Ryanryanryan Posted January 8, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2020 Looking at booking a cruise from Barcelona on May 24th. Will it be warm enough for shorts during the daytime and is it warm enough to use the pools?
mapleleaves Posted January 8, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2020 There are web sites with historical data such as this one, wunderground.com Check May 20 for the past several yrs and see what it looks like. Only takes a few minutes. Not perfect but gives you a good idea of what to expect. https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/es/el-prat-de-llobregat/LEBL/date/2019-5-20 Also, ask if your hotel pool is heated. Ours wasn't. Will it be warm enough for shorts during the daytime and is it warm enough to use the pools? May is kinda a shoulder month. For us, it is plenty warm for shorts and pools. That being said, if you are touring churches, you need to have long pants and have your shoulders covered (lots of vendors with scarves to cover up if you forget). Rare KeithJenner Posted January 8, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 8, 2020 (edited) I have cruised often in April and May in the Med, and it is certainly warm enough for the pools. They are quite busy. It can be a bit windy, and I have got chilly when waiting around (or queueing for the water slides), but other than that it’s fine. I generally don’t wear shorts unless it is very warm. However, the weather is generally warm whilst out and about and shorts would be fine most of the time. May is a great time to go to the Med. The summer can be too hot and crowded. don't-use-real-name Posted January 8, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 8, 2020 (edited) I would suspect that with the expense of energy in Europe to heat a pool that most pools would be solar heated. If not heated by heat exchanged solar panels on a roof top - best used in the afternoon after the sun has done its work. This being my 4666 post maybe the devil might have something to say about the level of heat ! ckornuta Posted January 8, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 8, 2020 I have been to Barcelona twice in May. Once you had to wear light jackets or sweaters since it was chilly and rained and the other time it was hot like summer
