Icy Strait Alaska excursions

Hi

Can anyone tell me about excursions they did when docked in Icy Strait Alaska.  We are interested in search/viewing brown bears.

We are not interested in Whale tours as we can do this here at home.

We did the combo whale watching and bear watching tour, although we did not see any bears. That was with Alaska Galore Tours in June 2015

 

In May 2016 we just did a whale watching tour with Icy Strait Whale Adventures

We used Hoonah Travel Adventures. Best trip of our cruise.

This is the made up port since Hoonah didn't want the cruise ships.  We took the shuttle into and walked back. Wandered around and went to a bar that Esquire magazine rated tops for a community  that size.  Was really good.  Walked back and stopped at the cemetery because on the way into town noticed some Jewish head stones.  The walk isn't easy as there weren't sidewalks the entire way and walked in the road.  Fun day.

When we visited that port, we used Glacier Winds for whale watching. I'd highly recommend them. One of the best excursions we've ever done and limited to 6 people per tour.

We did the Hoonah Aventures bear tour too. We saw some bears, and it was a good tour.

We walked to the left of the pier and saw several bears in and around the water.

I did the zip line at Icy Strait Point.  It’s supposedly the longest zip line in the world.  What an adrenaline rush!  It’s fairly expensive but worth the cost IMHO.
