vacation fool Posted January 12, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2020 Does anyone know if there is a luggage limit for either the airport bus that you get on from the airport that goes to piazzale roma or the public water bus? I tried the search tool and the website and cannot access the info. Thanks.

There really is not much luggage room on the vaporetto (public water bus) and there is a limit. We have noted that the limit has been arbitrarily enforced when we have been passengers on the vaporetto (we did not have luggage but others did). "On water buses, you're allowed to carry one piece of luggage with a combined length, width, and height of 150 cm (60 inches) or less. For more baggage, or for a larger suitcase, you may need to pay a fare supplement." https://europeforvisitors.com/venice/articles/venice-vaporetto-tips-and-warnings.htm Edited January 12, 2020 by dogs4fun
mapleleaves Posted January 12, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2020 (edited) Per the Alilaguna site under FAQ, only 1 suitcase plus hand luggage. https://www.alilaguna.it/en/support/faq Didn't see anything on the ATVO site. I doubt they have a requirement since the luggage goes in a hold beneath the bus. And I've always loaded and unloaded by luggage when I use ATVO. For the water bus, ACTV, see article 5 for regs on the combined size of 2 pieces of luggage. http://actv.avmspa.it/en/content/general-transport-conditions-0 Edited January 12, 2020 by mapleleaves add
chipmaster Posted January 12, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2020 The restrictions were news to me, this past summer we saw many inline with two pieces and personal item in line and they got on, not that I'd want to be lugging those to my hotel up and down bridges, but I didn't see anyone denied boarding, YMMV
mapleleaves Posted January 12, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2020 excess luggage isn't PROHIBITED, but you might have to pay extra for it if someone decides to act upon the rules.
