Gaprofitt Posted January 14, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2020 Question for you all. We live in Georgia, so we are a short flight or a reasonable drive to Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral and Miami. How likely are last minute deals for sailings and are the discounts steep? Was thinking about trying to find something in May last minute..
May1cruiser Posted January 14, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2020 following, how last minute is last minute? We have thought about just taking time off, then waiting to see if there are any great deals last minute.
Nic6318 Posted January 14, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2020 Hi I would look, but look at all the companies, not only at Carnival. It seems all the cruise lines price their cabin according to supply and demand, so any given ship and any given sailing could show a good discount. So, on a Mon. or Tue. of any given week look at pricing for all cruises that you would be able to get to for that weekend. It's hit or miss. Obviously your cabin selection will be whatever is left over. Solo cruisers often find that they can get cabins without the solo supplement this way. good luck have a great cruise
sanger727 Posted January 14, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2020 There are some good last minute deals. There are websites that specifically will advertise last minute cruise deals (look for a phrase like 90 day ticker). But agree that flexibility will be key in exactly which week you go and which cruise line you go with and where you go. Cruising outside of school holidays will help. jsglow Posted January 14, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 14, 2020 Well, there's 'last minute' (defined in my eyes as the week or two past final payment date) and 'last possible second' (defined at less than 72 hours before the cruise.) We've had some incredible success with both. But as others have said, you need to be darn flexible both in destination and cruise date. We hope to practice both types fairly regularly in retirement.
