Sailed the Sunrise in Sep. The ship was fine overall. I found the Lido crowded at peak times and the pathway on the deck was blocked often  by people waiting in line at Mexican place and Ice Cream on one side and Hamburger on the other. The food was good as usual and all service was good also. Do not know about sounds on Lido. . There are other threads covering the Sunrise extensively before so you can see people disagree and agree about the crowds.

It looks like you are under the crew only space on Lido. If you look at the deck plan, you can see a gray area between the cabins and where the Blue Iguana bar is.  I don’t know what they use that space for.

However, the Lido deck will be just above you, and to your left while standing on your balcony (looking towards the ocean).

Personally, I would try and move a bit more forward, just to be safe.Try for an 8C category cabin on deck 8.  It would be away from Lido, and save you a few bucks.

We sailed earlier in January of this year.  One of the recommendations I would make is to go to the Cuchina del Capitano for lunch.  It is very good (officers eat here).  There is a $15 fee at night.  It stops serving lunch at 2:30.  Guy's Bar B Que did not seem to be open every day for lunch  The day that it was open, the line was huge.  We went to the Cuchina, which is next door.

The check in process for Your Time Dining was awful.  We had to go to the check in on one floor to get a slip of paper with our table number.  Then, you go to a different floor and a different part of the ship to go to the dining room.  We were assigned to the upper level.  When you get there, usually, no one is there to take you to your table.  All of the dining room staff were great.

Serenity is different from the other ships we have visited.  It is spread out over a couple of floors.  There is no elevator to the upper level.  It is difficult for some of the older adults to access.  One woman in a wheelchair asked a crew member if there was an elevator to get up there.  She was told that the only way was the steps.  We were disappointed that there was no library.  However, the Red Frog pub has been enlarged.  There is a stage for the entertainers.  If FBI/CIA are performing, go see them.  It has been awhile since we have heard a group with a horn section this good performing on a cruise ship.

We had a great time and I would definitely book this ship again.

Deck plans show 2 elevators from deck 12 to deck 14 forward which is the Serenity area.

I have read if you use the HUB app for YTD, you just arrive when the app tells you to.  No need to go get paper from a different deck.  We will be on Sunrise on 2/22 so I will report back on my trip.

We were on the Sunrise for a 14 day cruise and loved it!  We just booked another B2B for a total of 17 days this May.  I do agree the Lido was always crazy crowded/busy.  Especially the dessert area.  I sometimes waited 10-15 minutes in line for a piece of cake!  But the cake was really, really good.  The Cuchina del Capitano for lunch was our favorite option as well.  It is free for lunch (dinner is a charge).  Guys BBQ was really good as well but only served on sea days, and maybe the day you get on the ship.

Casino was very fun, but that might of been because we were on a Premiere Journey cruise.  Comedy club was hard to find, in a really weird location right outside of the main dining room.  Overall, we had a great time and will be sailing her again this May!

While there isn't a library, there are some book shelves in the coffee shop (along with sudoku puzzles).  I was on the September cruise with Jeff and Patti and the name of the group was different but they had excellent horns then too - very nice addition 🙂

You are correct about just showing up with the HUB app check-in, but it doesn't allow for special requests.  We found a service team we really enjoyed and had to check in on the upper deck to request them.  Have a great trip!

The cake situation in my opinion is set up to fail: they have very tall cakes that are difficult to cut (especially small pieces) and usually required using a knife soaked in hot water.  This caused soggy cake and the pieces would sometimes fall apart when trying to transfer to the plate - which then passengers wouldn't want.  I think it would be better to have a "display" cake, but then a shorter sheet cake that is easier to cut (maybe even have pre-cut plates).

BBQ was open on our embarkation day and was a nice alternative to the buffet.

We will use the HUB app check in for YTD.  We aren't picky about who serves us or where the table is.  We order everything wen we sit down so it can go faster.  We really just want to get in and out when we go to MDR and don't need to make a connection with a serving team like some other guests have posted about.

This is correct, we used the HUB app to sign in for YTD.  Then we just sat where ever we were comfortable and about 5-10 min later got the notice to head to the dining room.  No need to go to Bonsai on deck 5 and check-in.

We don't need a "connection" with the serving team, but our first night service was mediocre at best and Seaday Brunch service was also poor.  When we found exceptional service the next night we made sure to note the name so we could have his section.

At the top of the page click on research. Select the Carnival Sunrise and read all the reviews. That should give you a very good idea of what to expect on the ship.

Op, the link below is my detailed review from our 7/22 sailing.  Other than a couple tough reviews, mostly from non Carnival cruisers, the ship has gotten very good reviews.  Like all ships, she has her good points and less favorable.  I do not think you will be unhappy with picking her to sail on.
