tx121 Posted January 21, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2020 We will be sailing on the Encore on February 2nd to the Caribbean. Now my passport expires in June. Will I be able to use my passport for the cruise? I know for international travel for some countries they want you to have a passport that is good for 6 months from the end of the travel date. Is this true for cruises as well?

hallux Posted January 21, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2020 First result when I enter "norwegian cruise lines passport requirements" in Google - https://www.ncl.com/freestyle-cruise/cruise-travel-documents
versuco Posted January 21, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2020 We just sailed in Jan. to Western Caribbean with a group of 13. 3 of our passports expire in May, but they were accepted. The three cruisers took along their certified birth certificates just in case. I think close looped cruises to the Caribbean may have different passport requirements. Rare Liljo22 Posted January 21, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2020 From the NCL website. US Citizens leaving from a US port are ok with a valid Passport. Non-US Citizens are required to have a passport that does not expire for 6 months. I would still bring a birth certificate just in case.
smplybcause Posted January 21, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 21, 2020 If you're a US citizen leaving a US port, then NCL does not require 6 months. If you're paranoid you can always bring the birth certificate. That will always get you on (if you're a US citizen on a closed loop cruise leaving the US) and your less than 6 months until expired passport will get you a flight home in case of emergency. zqvol Posted January 21, 2020 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2020 As long as you are a US citizen, on a closed loop Caribbean cruise, your passport is fine as long as it is valid on the day you return. ( There is no other logical answer, because on the type of cruise that is described, you don't even have to have a passport.)
