Justalone Posted January 28, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2020 (edited) Greetings, First time cruiser here. How do you compare the cuisine B, L, D? Non-YC versus Oceania. I have read on other forums MSC cuisine is geared toward European and the cuisine not to American taste. And not to American liking? So, what is European taste in cuisine? Examples? Thank you. Até Posted January 28, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2020 I've not cruised Oceania but researched them a lot due to my numerous past NCL sailings. My understanding is there is no comparison. Oceania is well known for their excellent food, MSC not so much.
mafig Posted January 28, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2020 Agree with Ate. Oceania is known for their food. Couldn't compare to MSC YC nevermind non YC.
sptrout Posted January 28, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2020 Having been on both, Oceania is by far the best of most all, if not all, mainstream cruise lines. The YC restaurants are nice, but Oceania is in a different league and the prices reflect the differences.
Norwich Cruiser Posted January 31, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 31, 2020 Oceania blows MSC food away as it does any cruise line we’ve sailed on both for food and service. We've found there is absolutely no comparison.
emmas gran Posted January 31, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 31, 2020 I wouldn't sail MSC outside YC!! Just my opinion
brian1 Posted January 31, 2020 #7 Share Posted January 31, 2020 You can't lump together European cuisine in one category.Every country has its own cuisine.I just hope MSC is not "pizza and pasta" when we sail from Barcelona in Oct.

Generally, the better food quality overall, the more European it is. MSC non-YC is not European. Happy cruising! If it's not European, what is it.I thought most American food originated from Europe with all the early settlers from Germany,Italy,Sweden,Ireland and us Brits to name a few. perakcruiser Posted January 31, 2020 #9 Share Posted January 31, 2020 (edited) Funny to read about "European taste". Food in Poland and Portugal is quite different taste 😎 Apart from the thing that there is no "European food", MSC anyway is totally focused on Mediterranean cuisine, mainly Italian. No food at all from Northern, Eastern or Central Europe, even they have so many guests from Germany they do not serve any German food. And that is because all guests expect from MSC that they focus on Italian food, which is what they want in their holidays. No matter if they are from Northern Europe or Eastern Asia.
