This question is for those booking in Canada.

When you purchase drink packages through your Personaliser what currency are you charged in? CA or US?

When you purchase excursions through the Personaliser what currency are you charged in?

If you make your cruise booking in USD, then all Personalizer items are priced in USD.  If you make your booking in CAD, then all items in Personalizer are priced in CAD at the same conversion rate Princess was using when you booked the cruise.  (It doesn't matter that you live in Canada - it is how you do the booking).

Reason I am asking is this time I have booked / paid my TA in Canadian dollars for the cruise which I expected. I ordered drinks through personalizer and was charged/ paid in Canadian dollars.  However, I booked excursions through Personalizer and was charged in US dollars this time My credit card did the conversion.   Wondering why they switched currency for excursions. I had never noticed this on prior bookings.

Yes this is the same for me. I order water etc in the Personaliser and charged in Aust $ but excursions are in $US and converted by my credit card company. This has been the same for my last few cruises.

Yes but ...

Except shore excursions - they are in $USD and are charged to credit card at time of purchase in $USD - or you can apply OBC.
This is for North American and European cruises.   I'm not sure how Australia cruises work.

Ahh, that is right.  I am wondering if they leave those in USD since customers often apply OBC and OBC is in USD?  But that is N.A.  In Australia, OBC is in AUD.  Good question on that, but I rarely even look at Princess excursions as we book our own.  I was thinking of the miscellaneous other things we can order.

Shore excursions and spa services are both charged in the currency the ship will be charging. If you are Canadian and you booked in CDN funds then all other purchases made through your personalizer are in CDN funds. We are Canadian and booked in Canadian funds and pre purchased the internet plan which was charged in CDN funds but also bought the unlimited fitness class that fall under spa services and that was charged in US funds since we are sailing out of the US.

Just went through bookings. The prepaid Specialty reservation  through personalizer  is charged in US funds and conversion is by my credit card to Canadian.

What about OBC purchases, Casino OBC, beverages?  I wonder if there have been some changes?  I have read past postings about people quoting CAD rates for Personalizer purchases.  I have been booking in USD for some time now as I use a US discount TA for better pricing.   I wish I could delete Post #2 now as I clearly wasn't thinking clearly.

I have not used any OBC on my next 2 bookings.

Also, the US dollar amounts showing up on my credit card do not match the US dollars listed on my travel summary.

I'm thinking I will not do any more reserving or purchases pre cruise, other then the bottled water. Getting too confusing.

Now THAT is strange.
