57gal Posted February 3, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2020 Does anyone have any insight on beaches on Mexican Riviera Cruise? Rather than spend $100.00 on an excursion Can you just hop in taxi at pier and go to hotel beach? Thanks
riffatsea Posted February 3, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2020 There are beaches you can visit on your own that are not hotel beaches. There are hotels where you can buy a day pass. Each city is a bit different. You don't have to buy an excursion if all that interests you is going to a beach.
SDPadreFan Posted February 3, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 3, 2020 The main beach in Cabo is Medano Beach. You could either catch a cab there or a water taxi. There are numerous beach bars/restaurants on Medano Beach. They have beach chairs/loungers available for use as long as you are eating/drinking. If you can handle a water egress out of the boat (about knee/thigh deep water) then a water taxi would work. Here's a suggested plan for a cruise stop in Cabo. Take the tender ashore. Negotiate a price (per person) for a water taxi to take you out to see the Arch + Lovers Beach + the Sea Lion Colony and then take you over to Medano Beach by the beach bars and go ashore. Have a couple of drinks and maybe lunch there. Then walk into town and sight-see the main road back to the Marina walk and then back to the tender. Depending on your legs, you can wander Cabo as much as you want (incl side streets). Just remember that if you take the water taxi to Medano Beach, you will get out of the boat in a couple feet of water and wade ashore. Another note - the sand in Cabo is very course and tough on the feet. Final suggestion: No need to get out of the boat at Lovers Beach - it's just a small beach with no services. You basically have Lovers Beach (calm water) on one side of a small piece of land and Divorce Beach (rough water) on the other side. The divorce part comes from the extremely dangerous rip currents that exist on that side (Pacific Ocean side). Pic attached is Lovers Beach. Divorce Beach is just on the other side.
SDPadreFan Posted February 3, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2020 Resorts on Medano Beach in Cabo are mostly Time Share resorts and generally don't sell day passes. One or two "might"
GradUT Posted February 4, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 4, 2020 Here's a link to the Summer 2019 Day Pass Guide for Puerta Vallarta. https://vallartatribune.com/daypass/ We got the day pass at the Westin and it worked out great for us. The beach was quiet; the pool was great; and the food voucher covered burgers and sodas for lunch.

SelectSys Posted February 8, 2020 #7 Share Posted February 8, 2020 (edited) You can also simply hang out at Mango Deck. You shouldn't have to pay anything if you are buying drinks/snacks. https://www.mangodeckcabo.com/ Edited February 8, 2020 by SelectSys
