Jimbo Posted February 24, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2020 Can you still see salmon in Ketchikan on that Salmon ladder by the bridge mid September? Would Bear still be active in Mid September?
masterdrago Posted February 26, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2020 I'm betting that the answer is yes since Island Wings Air Service runs flight seeing tours to Traitors Cove from August 1st and September 30th for the bear viewing observatory. mapleleaves Posted February 26, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2020 Looks like the salmon viewing at Ketchikan Creek ends mid Sept. The runs can be off by 2 weeks due to weather, water temperature etc. So depending on timing this yr, you may see thousands of them jumping at the ladder or you may see thousands of carcasses rotting in the river bed. Either one is a pretty fascinating, but one definitely smells more ! https://www.alaska.org/detail/ketchikan-creek-falls If you have a car , there are a few other viewing spots listed under Ketchikan on the Alaska F&G site: http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=viewing.fish
