Would you cancel due to Coronavirus?

We are booked for the Joy on March 22nd.  We have not made a final decision if we will cancel or not, but are leaning towards cancelling.  There are many reasons why we are likely to make that choice.  and very few reasons why we  would not cancel.  However, we will not make a final choice until  Wednesday, the 18th.  That is well within the 48 hour cancellation, but also gives us time to pack and drive from Upper Michign to Green Bay, WI  where we will catch a plane to LA on Saturday, the 21s

I would really like to hear from people who are on the Joy now or will be next week.,  Are you able to get into the ports?  How is life on the ship any different than any other cruise?  Has there been any mention (threat?) of quarantine?  Please tell me anything that might help us make a decision--both pro and con.  Thank you very much.

You're best bet is to start a new thread titled "Who is on the Joy this week 3/8/2020" or something similar.  Or Post to the roll call for the sailing.

The CDC today was saying that the mortality rate for coronavirus is 10 times that of seasonal flu.  I heard an epidemiologist say that we are on track to be on the same trajectory to be where Italy is in just two weeks.  She said we need to stop non-essential travel now.

In two weeks we may well have a policy that stops non-essential travel.

Restricting travel to Europe is already being discussed. https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/11/politics/cucinelli-us-travel-restrictions-europe/index.html

When this first started and they were building hospitals in Wuhan...I was astonished.  Didn't make sense to me. Watched a YouTube video a few days later explaining that the first patients with COVID19 infected everyone else in the hospitals including the medical professionals. The new hospitals were for COVID19 only.

Seems like cruise ships would make decent COVID19 hospitals??

I was telling my wife that this morning, perfect to dock in cites along the coast. Then the president mentioned it this morning, cruise ships were a big part of the problem now they can help with solution and make a few bucks as well.
