jeanlyon Posted March 29, 2020 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2020 (edited) I wonder what Ventura is doing. She is travelling West below the Isle of Wight. Her departure is Southampton 0910 today and her arrival is Southampton 0630 tomorrow? Odd. Engine check perhaps. Son of Anarchy Posted March 29, 2020 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2020 Probably dumping grey water. When were on Ventura and spent 5 days Tenerife, they couldn't cope with the amount of grey water and were asking pax to reduce water use accordingly. Once they got one propulsion engine going, they took her out for a test drive and used the opportunity to dump the grey water. Obviously they haven't got pax onboard now, so it will take longer for the grey water to build up.
jeanlyon Posted March 29, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted March 29, 2020 (edited) Interesting. If there is nobody on board, why would they have grey water? Looking at AIS it's unbelievable not to see any yachts out, either in the Solent or down here off Devon. Eerie. As a Coastwatch volunteer, it's odd not going up there either. Adawn47 Posted March 29, 2020 #4 Share Posted March 29, 2020 I thought the crew were staying on board the ships? Avril
Britboys Posted March 29, 2020 #5 Share Posted March 29, 2020 There must be some crew aboard. Some will not have been able to get home because of no/few flights being operated. Also, there will be some elements of the ships that need to be run/maintained so that would require some technical crew.

Someone needs to drive it as well.😁
showingdiva Posted March 29, 2020 #7 Share Posted March 29, 2020 Will be grey water. The 3 Fred Olsen ships at anchor in the Firth of Forth are regularly going out into the North Sea for the same reason.
tartanexile81 Posted March 29, 2020 #8 Share Posted March 29, 2020 Ventura is due back in Southampton tomorrow according to the Marine Traffic app. Andy Willard joined as Captain on March 1st when we were on Ventura in Miami so he'll be doing the driving and if anybody can keep the crew's spirits up, it's him. Great fun and entered into everything - even sung a solo in the choir. Hope you're okay showingdiva
