CATandSQUID Posted April 10, 2020 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2020 Have the cabins on the Rotterdam been upgraded? TV on wall vice the desk. Thanks!
catl331 Posted April 10, 2020 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2020 Her last dry dock was late Oct 2017. THESE PICS of 6179 taken June 2018 show a small TV on the desk opposite the sofa. The next dry dock is (or was) scheduled for Dec this year. So my guess is that the TVs have not been upgraded yet.
Sskarmar Posted April 16, 2020 #3 Share Posted April 16, 2020 We were on the Rotterdam in March (thwarted Panama Canal cruise) in a Vista suite. The TV was on the desk.
zelker Posted April 16, 2020 #4 Share Posted April 16, 2020 My understanding is that none of the smaller HAL ships will have the flat screen TVs on the wall nor the interactive systems … something about the cost of rewiring these older ships. KAKcruiser Posted April 16, 2020 #5 Share Posted April 16, 2020 That was my understanding also. But, we were on the Volendam in November 2019 and they had the big flat interactive TVs on the wall in the Neptune Suites. They had just installed them.

Look for On-Demand TV in the ship amenities table. Some of the R-Class ships are upgraded but not all. https://www.hollandamerica.com/content/dam/hal/inventory-assets/ships/pdf-files/HAL_Ships_at_a_Glance_Chart.pdf

Now would be a great time for HAL to modernize/upgrade their ships (of course, assuming they have the cash to do it).

Of all the HAL ships we've sailed the Rotterdam was the most "tired," like it had been used hard and housekeeping couldn't keep up. P.S. Is it true that the Rotterdam and the Oosterdam will both be retired at the same time, to be replaced by the new ms Roosterdam?
