flagger Posted June 18, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2004 We are now fully committed, engaged, executed, all of the above. I made our final payment (with insurance I might add) with our TA today. It truly was more money that I spent on my first car and second car put together. The best thing is this has been paid for in cash so no going into debt to take this vacation we have waited so long for. I did find out the advantage to booking so early was that our class of stateroom has now gone up almost $1500 for all three of us. Now the waiting begins. We have all of our shorex booked independently (Larry's in Juneau and Island Wings in Ketichikan). We have almost everyday planned out with military precision with lots of time in there to do what we mostly want to do including just being lazy and watching the scenery go by from our balcony. I know some people are asking why on earth would I prep so hard daily for vacation. It is an old radio habit. We would plan out each our of the morning show and found ourselves being more spontaneous than coming in with no prep whatsoever. We cannot wait. We are just giddy with anticipation. Now I will just have to post to watch my clock counting down. QueensChick Posted June 18, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2004 I know the feeling. Don't worry. The planning and anticipation are half the fun. Have a great cruise! jezzdogg Posted June 18, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 18, 2004 We did both those excursions off the Summit last year and they were both fabulous, have a great time. Would also do I walk on a glacier, and also Menhenhall, which you can take a taxi or bus to and do it yourself. norm

deb18 Posted June 18, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 18, 2004 Did you need to take some cruisalias or viacruise before the paymentgasm? deb
flagger Posted June 18, 2004 Author #8 Share Posted June 18, 2004 No the paymentgasm did not have to be achieved using any supplements or enhancements. I cannot believe it is relatively so close after booking early last August. brigittetom Posted June 19, 2004 #14 Share Posted June 19, 2004 I agree that half the fun is the planning. I was just going to ask why you made your final payment so early, but geez, your at that point already. Now is where the fun really begins. I can understand having that many posts before actually going on the cruise. Once you're in the cruise mode, this all becomes interesting. jemingway Posted June 19, 2004 #15 Share Posted June 19, 2004 brigettetom, actually I have planning calculated as one-quarter of the fun, but you are probably right. brigittetom Posted June 19, 2004 #16 Share Posted June 19, 2004 Jemingway, The planning and anticipation is only half the fun until you get on the ship. I guess it just makes us feel better to say it while we are waiting for the cruise. Standing in the terminal with our luggage in hand, the only anticipation left is walking up the gangplank. It's all GO from there on in. Here's wishing you good weather and lots of fun. I just know that you will come back hooked on cruising. Pat

Blazerboy Posted June 21, 2004 #19 Share Posted June 21, 2004 Flagger, Just paid for my Trans. Atlantic, and any association with pleasure was far from my mind when writing a $(big).00 check. So I just got out the cruise brochure, made a martini and pretended that I didn't have 75 days left. IT WORKED! Also wanted to post over here how great your comments were on the "now my cruise is..." thread. Really appreciated them. Blazer Boy
flagger Posted June 21, 2004 Author #20 Share Posted June 21, 2004 I may be a jean wearing, non-tipping, first time cruiser, but I draw the line at hatred and ignorance. So your thanks is appreciated. And this cruise is not exactly cheap when one has paid in cash. Then I just booked our three dogs for the kennel for the 10 days we are gone which will run me $600 plus another $160 to park at DFW. However, I cannot wait. It could rain everyday, be extremely cold, Ms. Flagger could have her contract ended while we are gone, but we are still more and more excited watching the clock countdown everyday. Flagger - who had two homosexual men and two people of the Jewish faith in his wedding party all at a Protestant church. There is a joke in there somewhere. Blazerboy Posted June 21, 2004 #21 Share Posted June 21, 2004 Yeah, the kennels are a "B@#$h" (bad pun) We try to tell Hubble, our welsh corgi that he's going to the "spa," but he KNOWS better! The wonderful thing about that Alaska cruise is that weather isn't the most important thing! And now that the cruise is paid for, it's all just the fun and anticipation! Enjoy. Blazerboy Posted June 21, 2004 #22 Share Posted June 21, 2004 Well, Mrs Flagger and the "other Mr Blazerboy" might have something to say about that, as would I, and probably Flagger too! Since when is that two men showing emotion (such as gratitude) a sign of courtship? If that's the case, I think I just made a pass at the toll-taker on the way to work, the doorman of my building, the maintenance man, the mailman and assorted co-workers. Stop me before I thank again! Blazer Boy
