Escape sailed past Ponta Delgada - due Civitavecchia June 9

Norwegian Escape sailed past Ponta Delgada, Azores (Portual) in the Atlantic earlier this morning, cruise speed 10 knots.  Currently out of AIS tracking range again but latest destination next is Civiavecchia, Italy (ETA is June 9th) - not clear if it is skipping/bypassing Barcelona, Spain.  Plan posted previously for crew repatriation from Miami to Asia via the Suez Canal is/was to be at Gibraltor tomorrow morning (June 2nd) for bunkering.

Spain want to extened their  Emergency status until June 20th, maybe it is then not possible to disembark crew there before the end?

That is cool. I have been watching shipmate but you don’t get details. Is thus an app or a website?

Happy to share ... I also use the same app as you on the go, SM along with an App called MarineTraffic (available for both iOS and Android) with ads, the paid version w/o ads.  I ran into OS issues with Android 10 on my Pixel XL so switched to using Marine Radar - you can filter it for a specific ship and port, etc.  MT can be set to push update on ship' position, etc.via email/messagng if you want to get periodic, timed status update.  

 

MT can be accessed free from a desktop browser (or, when my Chromebook or iPad is nearby) as there can be lots of info on a single screen - paid subscribers have access to satellite tracking data & more functions, but the free option is fine for my needs.  There are other apps out there, explore & check them out.  Helpful to access the port's online site to check posted arrival & departure schedules, # of ships in port, etc. - easier than to "Google" or track down the details, sometimes. 

 

BTW: on the Escape's latest route and timing, I just did some quick-n-dirty calculation, does NOT appear that the ship will reach the Gibraltor at 0800 on 2 June as originally planned ... most likely to be still 250 to 350+ nm out (thanks to Steff79's comment about Spain).   Should know in about 6 to 9 hours from now (based on GMT time zone difference)  

 

If this theory is true and assumptions hold, transit time and arrival into subsequent ports could possibly changed and delayed - let's wait & see.  

 

Ship's schedule was posted/shared by another CC'er that posted (all credits to the poster) on an earlier thread, cannot find that linked thread (deleted ...) but luckily, saved it to cloud for reference.

Between the Stay At Home order that we are still under and now, this citywide curfew ... Way too much "updates" to keep up, almost around the clock, stranded on dry land for 6 months already - we started cyber-cruising, watching older ship videos in our collection from 10 to 15 years ago: Alaska, Hawaii & Mexico Rivera taken on the "older" ships.  

 

A quick update on the Escape's route & headings, it's easily 500 nm from Gibraltor now and given her reported heading/speed, at least 2 full days from reaching there.  Following was taken overnight, just as the sun was rising over the horizon sailing eastward ... seas calm and looking fine. 

 

Let's just hope that their arrival in Asia later this month isn't further delayed in getting the crews home.  But, not going to speculate on where & when, etc.

The itinerary posted above was changed intentionally because everyone was sharing the above schedule. It was confidential information that was not meant to be shared. By sharing this schedule puts the entire ship at risk as they will soon be traveling through high-risk areas of the world. Exact times they will be passing through the area should not be public info. (Hence why the first CC thread was deleted). And not to mention delaying the crew from getting home to their families every time the itinerary needs to be modified.

Okay, RJ and AZ ... (can't fix those typos after 20 minutes)

A beautiful sunrise over in Italy for welcoming the ship.  Escape has arrived this morning as indicated, and docked after doing a 180 turn, watched it on shipcam.  Still a long journey ahead in getting the rest of the crew repatriated home, hopefully all of them next month.  I wondered if some of the crew members we know are onboard and probably they are on her, or maybe on the Joy, due in Busan, SK within a day.

FYI with a quick update. Escape has sailed again yesterday and according to AIS/radar tracking data, en route to nearby Naples, where the Jade is currently docked ... continuation on repatriation of crews.  

 

On a related noted, Joy is off the Philippines in the South China Sea, about a day from reaching Manila Bay.  Otherwise, those on the Escape will not reach the Manila for a while.  Let's hope that they keep up with their mind, spirit and health while under way, stay strong and remain well.

Hope to be flying out of Manila at 7 PM Thursday evening, probably won't be able to see the ships, already dark plus my wife always has divs on the window seat.
