We are late departing...

The market must be dismantled. It is fascinating to see how quickly this happens.

The sun is setting fast, and the market is almost cleared. It's a hive of activity below. The whole family take part in the clearing up operation.

Glad you enjoyed your tour.

We had a great day relaxing on Hideaway Island.  Nice beach, decent snorkling, but the real draw is the underwater post office.  You can buy waterproof postcards, fill them out, then you go out in the water and snorkel down in about 10 feet of water to post them.  They have a diver down there to receive them but if they are not in the water you place them in a mailbox down there.  Touristy schtick, but for some who collect postcards it is a once in a lifetime collectible.

We walked into town and took a bus and returned to the ship by cab.  Easy day.

No McDonalds, AF-1, I’m afraid, but I hope you’ve enjoyed our day, nevertheless 😉

That sounds interesting, RLK33853. A unique experience.

I don’t suppose you have any photos you could upload onto the thread? I’d love to see what it was like.

“When life gets you down, you know what you gotta do? Just keep swimming.......”. Dory

I have just enough time for a swim, so we head up to the Hollywood Pool which, I’m pleased to see the Captain has reserved for my own personal use, as usual.

Tonight I only manage 18 lengths, as we are a little short of time. The water is perfect as usual, and I really enjoy the exercise. Then it’s a shower, hair wash and getting ready for dinner, while we continue watching a movie in our cabin.

Our table in the dining room - second from the back, on the left hand side. It’s such a beautiful dining room, very elegant.

Dinner is great, as usual.

DH declines a starter, I choose the Minestrone soup, which is delicious.

I choose the Spring Chicken, a good description of me......

Nothing really appeals to us on the dessert menu, so we both go for the ‘Always Available’ Pavlova. It’s very pretty and is as delicious as it looks.

Tonight’s entertainment in the Theatre is a Novelty Comedy Showtime, starring Martin Ralph, but the timings don’t fit as it’s at 6.00 pm and 7.45 pm. We’re not too bothered as he really isn’t our cup of tea.

We take a walk round the deck and admire the sea. We love looking at the sea at night, especially seeing the wake. It is so powerful, watching the churning water is mesmerising.

The Ultimate White Hot Deck Party started at 9.00 pm but we are still in dinner, so I’m afraid I can’t comment on how good it was.

There is plenty of live music around the ship to cater for all tastes, but we are tired after a very busy day, so we have a cup of tea in the buffet before heading down to our cabin.

It’s been a wonderful day and I hope you’ve enjoyed Vanuatu.

It’s a sea day tomorrow, so I’ll show you a bit more of beautiful Majestic Princess.

Good night, sleep tight, see you in the morning.

Wednesday, October 23rd

Time for some little brain teasers...

Now, as it’s a sea day, the Progressive Trivia is in full swing. So here are a few questions to start you off.

1.  Japan has had to cancel the Olympic Games this year due to Covid-19. It is the second time they have had to cancel the games. When was the last time Japan had to cancel, and why?

2. Which actress changed her name from Frances Gumm?

3.  Aichmaphobia is the fear of what?

4.  In which country did snooker originate?

5.  Which Shakespeare character asks “If you ***** us, do we not bleed?

Rules are as usual, and a wonderful prize will be winging its way to all the winners!

As you will see, I have inadvertently offended the sensibilities of the CC word checker, by using what it thinks is a naughty word. 🙀

The word which is missing is what you do if you pick up a needle and poke it into your finger, or touch a rose and it has a thorn on it.....begins with ‘p’ and ends in ‘ck’ and rhymes with ‘click.’

Not really naughty at all...🤔 🤣

The weather has changed with heavy rain showers and strong winds, Force 8. The wind is so strong that we can’t even open our balcony door.

The sea is rough but the ship is still incredibly stable. At one point today the sea was a depth of 8530ft (2600 m). The nearest land at noon is Vitilevu, Fiji, on our port bow. It is 222 nautical miles away.

The distance between Port Vila and the island of Dravuni is 586 nautical miles and we are speeding along at 19.5 knots. There are white horses today and the waves are quite large, but we don’t feel a thing. No sign of the beautiful sunshine we experienced yesterday. It’s cloudy with a sea mist on the horizon.

Ellie, I edited my Question 5 answer to ***** and got those *****.  Had a brain freeze about "that speech" from Merchant of Venice.  LOL long time ago when I studied the play in secondary school.

As an aside, don't you love the way people often say "Lead on McDuff" when in fact it should be "Lay on McDuff"?  Funny how things get changed, don't you think?

So you are naughty too! We might both get sent to the Naughty Room, what fun! 🤣

You are right, it’s like that well known quote from Casablanca, “Play it again, Sam” which never happened. All he said, apparently, was “Play it once, Sam. For old times’ sake.”

Funny how we do that.

You studied the play a long time ago? I was sitting next to Shakespeare when he wrote it!🤣

Here is "that" scene for you Ellie.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAlzmRjixr0

I love that movie.  On my first Princess cruise back in 2013 on the Sun Princess I happened to walk outside on the Riviera deck and "that" scene was playing on Movies Under the Stars.  Well, I just had to take a seat, order a G&T from the roving waiter and watch the movie through to the end.  LOL wonder why I love cruising????

Oh dear, now I want a cigarette!

Ooh Thank you, they don’t make them like that now do they?

Pass me the ashtray!🤣

(oh, and as I don’t want to get into trouble, and don’t want to start a discussion on smoking, rest assured I don’t really smoke...)

WW 2???

I knew the answer but LC1950 beat me to it.

3.  Aichmaphobia is the fear of what?

I cheated and looked it up. Interesting.

Had to chime in.

I had no idea the "Love Boat" theme is played on the ship's horns! Makes sense since 😁 they are Princess Cruise Line. My favorite sound is the ship's horn when leaving port.

It certainly is on the Royal Class ships. It’s one of my favourite sounds, too. It reverberates around, and goes right through you. In fact I had another video but the sound of the horn caused such intense vibrations that it interfered with the picture, so it wasn’t any good to watch.

Glad you did, JF!

Well done on the Olympic Games question. You are absolutely right, it was the war in 1940 that intervened. Hitler presided over the 1936 games in Germany, and used it as a platform for his Nazi government, and his ideas of racial supremacy. The 1940 games, of course, had to be cancelled due to the outbreak of WW2. The first games after the ending of the war took place in London in 1948, after a break of 12 years.

Please feel free to answer the phobia questions, we don’t mind. 👍

I hate the phobia questions. I always think I will remember them and don’t. I also can’t bear the planets questions (I know there is a mnemonic, but I need a mnemonic to remember the mnemonic!) followed closely by the anniversary questions. I just don’t seem able to retain the answers!

Hi Ellie,

I really got carried away at the market.... I ONLY  planned on picking up flowers for the cabin. Now where will I store all of those bags? I might have to buy another piece of luggage to trek all that home!  Hope I can do that without my DH noticing!!!!

After enjoying the children singing before boarding, and lugging all my shopping to the cabin, I just had time to clean up for dinner. The Lobster Bisque and  Spring Chicken were delicious.  Now I want to head up to the White Hot Deck Party  before retiring for the night?

Yay, another relaxing sea day coming up.

Gail
