zencruisers Posted October 17, 2020 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2020 (edited) I don't know about everyone else but I am Jonsing for a cruise! With the way 2020 has been with Covid and the lock downs I though I might go back a few years and review a cruise we did in November 2017. I have lots of pictures and a pretty good memmory. So if you are interested come along for the ride. We are from Phoenix, AZ and had another couple join us on this cruise.I decided to write this like a live review.so if you are interested please read along. We are sailing out of Miami so we booked the first flight out of Phoenix at 600am.We will have a short layover in Nashville,Tennesse the on down to Fort Lauderdale. Leaving at 6am meant we had to wake up at 230am the morning of our flight. We always fly in a day early to check out the city we are sailing out of. It was early get up but it who cares because we are flying to Florida to go cruise. We were at the airport in plenty of time so now there is no stress. We checked our bags went through security with no problems. We are the first plane out and plane was there waiting for us. We had time to hang for bit. zencruisers Posted October 17, 2020 Author #8 Share Posted October 17, 2020 We had about an hour and a half before we we boarded our flight to Fort Lauderdale so went to the Gibson Cafe for some food and drinks. Miss Zen and I both had an Ice cold Bud Light. I had kept daily drink log on this cruise I will check to see if I can find it. The Gibson Cafe had live entertainment with Brianna Alomar. She is is granddaughter of Sandy Alomar Jr who played for the Cleveland Indians. We talked to her and her mother between sets and they were very friendly and nice. zencruisers Posted October 18, 2020 Author #14 Share Posted October 18, 2020 Before we new it it was time to board the plane to Fort Lauderdale. The flight to Fort Lauderdale was uneventful which in my eyes is a good thing. We arrived at the airport grabbed our luggage and Uber’d on our way to Miami. We stayed at the Holiday at the Port of Miami. Sorry but I didn’t get any pics of the hotel or room. We went to our room and where we dropped our luggage off and we went across the street to Bayside Marketplace. There are plenty of places to eat here. We arrived just in time for a short fireworks display. We decided on some ceviche and drinks. I ordered the my first of many Painkillers of the trip. Miss Zen went with a Miami Vice. We had a second round of drinks and called it a night.
zencruisers Posted October 18, 2020 Author #15 Share Posted October 18, 2020 (edited) I woke up early as usual and it is cruise day! I never sleep good the night before a cruise. Too much excitement for the coming day. My friend Mark and I decided to go walk to the harbor while the wives slept in. On our way we ran across our first rooster of trip. It was beautiful day in Miami. We also saw the first of many jelly fish. Edited October 18, 2020 by zencruisers Grammar
zencruisers Posted October 18, 2020 Author #16 Share Posted October 18, 2020 I thought this this a was cool looking tree. Back at the hotel and reading to head to the terminal. We had a little trouble getting an Uber so we got a taxi. The taxi worked out fine and I think I cost about 12 bucks. Our first glimpse of what would be our home for the next 7 days. zencruisers Posted October 18, 2020 Author #18 Share Posted October 18, 2020 It took about 5 minutes to get from the hotel to the terminal. We were through security quickly. There was almost most no line to check in. All checked in about 8 minutes.

We've been on the Getaway twice now - first was a b2b - first week with family and second on our own and then just before Christmas 2019, we jumped on a great deal out of New Orleans. So glad we did, our last cruise before pandemic. We're also from Arizona - Mesa! Maybe we'll cross paths some time. 🙂 Very much enjoying your review and pics. deb 🙂
