visa RCCL reward points lost?

Some of my points are scheduled to be removed, because I have not used them.  Is RCCL going to extend their life, since the ships are not sailing?

When I called RCI with that question, they said they have nothing to do with the “Points” it is with Visa.  It was suggested to me to just use your points for gifts, but we already have dozens of beach towels. 🤪

I believe that Royal has nothing to do with the expiration date.  Points are valid for 5 years

If you currently have a cruise(s) booked you can apply the expiring Rewards points as OBC. If by chance the cruise is canceled, the OBC stays with the original reservation and you can re-apply them to another cruise later. At least you would have "used" the Rewards before they expire. 

 

It has worked for me pre-Covid and again with three canceled 2020 cruises where I moved the OBC to cruises booked for mid-late 2021 and one in Mar 2022.

 

I called the Redemption desk to have them re-applied to my later cruises.

You can have the points donated through the visa site. It has nothing to do with Royal Caribbean. I have no idea how much is donated or the process. I just know donating the points is one of the redemption options. I would definitely donate rather than have them go to waste

Thank you for reminding me of the expiration.  I called and mine don't expire until 2023.  Hopefully, I will cruise before then.

 

The person I spoke to at RC said they are planning to cruise the first of January, 2021!  Really???
