We had the pleasure to spend four nights onboard the Europa 2 by Hapag-Lloyd Cruises from Tenerife to Gran Canaria with port stops in La Palma and La Gomera. The whole cruise was 10 nights and ended on Dec 22nd in Tenerife. On Dec 18th (a day after our return) the Canary Islands were declared high risk area beginng on Dec 20 th here in Germany. This means that all German cruisers have to quarantine 10 days after returning to Germany (and can shorten this by a PCR test 5 days after the return). Despite this all "German" cruise lines did decide to continue the Canary Islands cruises (Hapag-Lloyd, TUI Cruises and AIDA).

Currently only people living in Germany, Austria or Switzerland are allowed to book and cruise.

Here´s part 1 of my extense review with way too many photos ;-). The text is in German but can be easily translated with google translate or other tools. And because of the way too many photos there´s no real need to read the text anyway. Part 1 covers the ship from deck 3 to 7 - restaurants and bars & lounges follow in separate parts. Parts will go online - hopefully - one per day.

@English Voyager it´s not too bad.

Of course entertainment is sort of cut down. There are still shows in the theater but two per night and you get a color dot on your card indicating your group. Club 2 was closed and used for crew but the band played either at the pool or by 9 pm in Belvedere (called Bar Blue). The Piano Bar still had a piano player / singer. Lectures were broadcasted on your suite TV all day long.

In Yacht Club you can still go to the buffet but food is served with a bit more distance than it used to be.

As there is a max of 60% of the regular number of passengers there is plenty of space in the restaurants and all over the ship. We had 284 pax and 338 crew.

Shore tours are in smaller groups. But - other than with AIDA and TUI Cruises - you were able to tour the town on your own without booking a tour - except for Tenerife and Gran Canaria, there you were only to go out with a shore tour. This came just the week prior to our cruise.

Other than that... yes, you have to wear your mask when the needed distance can´t be kept. And yes, there´s wash your hands at Yacht Club plus desinfection. The only other thing... you need your temp taken until noon daily. But most pax did that when they left the ship to shore. The temperature was taken in the atrium close to the exit.
