Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted January 13, 2021 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2021 With so many flights canceled, it is impossible to test routes from the East Coast to Sydney and return from Auckland. Has anybody taken a Silversea Australia–New Zealand cruise with included air – were you able to break up the flights to get some sleep along the way? DW refuses to fly to Australia because it is just enough further than Auckland to be 'a bridge too far' – even from LAX. So the only way I could convince her to take this cruise is to fly to LAX, stay a night at an airport hotel, fly to HNL, stay a night at an airport hotel, and then fly to SYD. Coming home she would be ok with AKL to LAX, overnight, and then home. [Apparently it was possible to book all these legs through American at one time, with one leg on Qantas booked through American.] Would Silversea let us do this with their included airfare offer [and would they honor the $1,999 business class upgrade for such a route]? Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted January 14, 2021 Author #2 Share Posted January 14, 2021 Update: Hawaiian has nonstops from NYC to HNL and then from HNL to SYD, so that's a better route going over. Coming home, AKL to SFO and SFO to NYC works better than using LAX. So there would only be one stop each way with a one-night layover. Would Silversea allow that? Rare drron29 Posted January 14, 2021 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2021 Another possible route when sanity returns is JAL flying NYC-NRTthen on to SYD. We flew this route 3 times a year when our son was studying then working in the US.We found it much easier on our bodies than NYC-LAX-SYD even with a night in LAX. However we have never used SS air.
rojaan19 Posted January 14, 2021 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2021 We also did that cruise Sydney to Auckland on the Muse in February 2019. Most enjoyable !
