Bigbenboys I have a question for you since you said you book SS normally. We just booked South America for 2023 and we booked one of those aft aqua class(that’s our third time booking 1 got canceled and we’ve moved rooms twice) we have never actually stayed in one. so now we’re thinking we want to upgrade South America to an SS🙂And we’re looking at holding room 8117? I like the location because we don’t have all of the lifeboats and deck stuff below? Just curious if you ever stayed in that SS??

On the M-class we have only stayed on deck 6. I like the location on deck 6. One deck down to Luminae. Breakfast in Luminae on port days closes at 9am and sea days 9:30am. The views from deck 8 will be very nice. My concerns with deck 8 comes down to the butler and how many suites the butler manages. When Celebrity added Concierge Suite Manager, they seemed to have reduces the butlers on deck 6 by 2 butlers. Others here on CC might know more about deck 8 suites.

I really like having a SS on cruises with many sea days. I like the Luminae lunch menu. At lunch and dinner in Luminae you can order off the MDR menu (Except Edge Class ships).

You now have one of the best AQ class cabins. Right down the back stairs to the aft bar and buffet. Then right back to your deck for lunch or snack. Elevator take your right down to Blu.

Things to think about. Does your cruise have many sea days. Is this cruise more about sightseeing.

Oh one other great thing about Suite Class at least in Asia. Your butler takes care of your passport for you. They will drop then off or pick it up for you. Also if you need temperature check or customs need to see you in person. Suite guest are escorted by the butler in groups before the rest of the ship guests. On the M-class ship once we did self disembarkation. We left though MC/ The Retreat on deck 4 out the side door onto the promenade to leave the ship.

We’ve been in the sky Suite 4 times and even though those aqua class rooms  look nice and  we like the fact of being one deck  above The sunset bar. But after talking about it we like a butler and love Luminae!! We  usually only have lunch and dinner in there and generally have our breakfast in our room another reason we like a butler!! and really like the access to The retreat lounge we only got to use  retreat deck on the equinox last year the others were before the refurbishment. And I forgot about the extra bonus of being escorted out of Michael’s lounge on some port days when we did the Panama Canal cruise.

I think we will like 8117 with no obstructed views  and midship close to elevators and stairs!! And hopefully with their only being a couple sky suites on that deck it’s not a problem with the butler. We are pretty easy-going and not demanding!!

I miss cruising!!!

We also have breakfast in the suite before going to Luminae for a 2nd breakfast. Breakfast on the balcony on the S-class ship.deck.thumb.jpg.47d9fab67de665fa342906704817a303.jpg

It was kind of funny I wanted to follow up we picked 6122 for our Boston to Canada trip and unfortunately my travel agent put a hold but didn’t finish the reservation out and let the hold lapse!! He felt awful since  that was the last sky suite on deck six ! Since I did a little research on 8117 and it was available we took that SS it was more $$ since it was an S1 ! He has been such a great TA for years and since I changed rooms on two cruises this weekend knowing how he was super swamped ! I let him know it was absolutely fine!! In the end I like the location midship it’s closer  to the elevator and stairs!
