snorkeling

we are going to princess cayes and have rented snorkeling equipment are we better off to keep it that way or just buy a cheap set before we go. Any ideas

A few years ago, I invested in a good snorkle. I can't imagine using a rental one that many, many folks have used.:p I also have a mask, but I rent fins from a dive shop on the islands.

For health / sanitary reasons I'd at least buy my own snorkel.

Just bring along a few packets of the alcohol hand wipes and wipe down the equiptment. I have been on many snorkeling trips and the equiptment is always sanitized by the crew.

I bought us snorkel sets (just masks and snorkels) a few years ago. We've taken them on three cruises. We saved enough that they paid for themselves on the first one. We take them even on excursions where equipment is provided so that we don't have to worry about germs from other people and poor sanitizing of equipment.
