FYI, re Covid testing prior to departure. I have just returned from a business trip and had to have a negative Covid test within 48 of departure to Italy and within 72 hours of my return to the UK. I used a company called Querd, and it was done by video call and you upload your results using your phone. £36 each test and received a fit to fly certificate within an hour of taking the test. Extreamly convenient 🙂

Is it Qured? If so looks like a scam

We also booked and paid before the freebies were announced, were you able to claim them fron Celebrity, if you did how?

You need to call celebrity and ask them to re price your cruise. It is the price promise. If you have already paid the balance then any amount they owe you will go on your obc rather than refunded. Hope this helps.

By the freebies, do you mean the balcony- concierge upgrade and free parking please?

I'm assuming that what is meant, we booked prior to these being announced, just a bit sceptical as the base price for out balcony hasn't changed so will they say your price hasn't reduced

Thanks Spike didn't know you could cancel the elevate package for a refund if it was bought at the same time as the original booking. May try calling X this morning.

I don't think Elevate or Indulge packages are refundable as they are considered part of the cruise fare.   I also don't think you can add them onboard.

The only way I know to convert non refundable OBC to cash onboard is by gambling at the casino.  Of course no guarantee on return.

I have put the following into my Notes on my iPad, just in case we don’t get the double points WHEN WE HAVE COMPLETED THE CRUISE:

”Now through 28 August, Classic members and above will earn double Club Points on our newly announced sailings aboard Celebrity Silhouette when you book a balcony stateroom or higher.* Simply book with your Captain’s Club member identification number today.”

I have just read the CD Sue Denning will be flying out to Alaska soon to join Summit.

It will be strange not to see her on Silhouette. We have also sailed with her on Eclipsex2.

Celebrity's website has been updated today and now shows in all places that a negative PCR is required 72 hours before sailing! Before it didn't show PCR was required under the UK sailings page but this has now been updated today to match the other page.

Be interesting to see whether Celebrity intend to  negotiate discounted rates for PCR tests like some of the holiday companies have?

Seems very strange that you don't need a PCR to sail from St Maarten or Athens, also not aware that other UK fully vacinated sailings require a PCR test

I really wish they would make their mind up. I appreciate its hard to forecast what the situation will be like by the start of July but the mixed messages is plain annoying. As we are travelling from the North West we were hoping to extend our trip and spend a few days pre cruise in and around Southampton / New Forest. With the possibility of testing requirements it may mean that this isn't possible - not if we want to wait to get our negative result before we travel.

This has actually put us off booking this evening. I wish they would decide one way or another .

A negative PCR is pointless, anyone can take a negative sample and come into contact with someone 10 minutes later who is infected.  I am hoping it’s best and braces in case they had to enforce and hoping come June guidance they will remove the need.

is you do need it, please be aware there are lots of scams out there, check out reputable sites

Hello,

I don't see the point of the PCR test on everyone that is fully vaccinated. If they are still required come sailing, the Covid 19 reasons on the RCI website for cancellation refunds need to be  copied to the X website. I also think the 'Announcing our return to sailing' text need to be updated with the text from the 'Southampton Travel Requirements' as they are not exactly the same.

I don't know what's so special about the '72 hours' as anyone sailing Monday to Wednesday will have had that time all but written-off as many testing companies rely on Royal Mail to deliver testing kits and/or results. It's therefore best to attend somewhere that will conduct the test in situ or courier them to the laboratory with results and certificates emailed back to you.

Your towns and cities may vary, but this is what I've found for on-premise testing by a nurse in Bristol for RT-PCR test:

Vivo Clinic           £125 for a 24 hour service

Boots Chemist   £99    for a 48 hour service

Superdrug           £120  for a 24 hour service

Nomad Travel    £170  for a 20 hour service

What's not been stated is when the "Additional testing and protocols will be confirmed nearer to the point of sailing" will be, and will they be the last word with no late surprises and whether they could be accepted as grounds for cancellation if unable to be met by the passengers.

I've got two cruises booked but as yet unpaid and don't have a nice warm feeling towards this.

Regards,

Cublet

The benefits and the price had changed in our case. It's worth a phone call. Don't ask don't get 😉

I did call, didn't get the free parking but did get the upgrade to Concierge 🙂

I have just had a conversation with celebrity regarding the issue of PCR testing, when we booked the terms and conditions were 2 Covid jabs needed with 14 days…which we met.

They have decided to change the goal posts.

Their customer service have said they are looking at complimentary testing, but still very vague …how or where we get these tests…they are looking into it.

we have unfortunately paid in full for our cruses so are now in a situation, in what to do. We feel very misled in the whole situation, we wouldn’t have booked if we needed PCR TESTING.
