57redbird Posted April 23, 2021 #1 Share Posted April 23, 2021 Can't seem to find (or get) an answer.....we are wait-listed for a verandah cabin on the Zuiderdam Hawaii/Tahiti cruise for Feb., 2022. Has anybody been waitlisted & what was the outcome? TIA
RuthC Posted April 24, 2021 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2021 The general rule is that by final payment date, some prospective passengers will decide not to take the cruise, and cabins will open up. There is a long time to go before that, so there is plenty of time for you to work your way up the list before then. How many people are ahead of you now? If not many, you may find you clear the list long before final payment. Don't lose hope.

Rare Essiesmom Posted April 24, 2021 #4 Share Posted April 24, 2021 I don’t know how the ‘wait list dept’, if there is such a thing, works. But I suspect there is no alarm when a cabin opens up, and someone off the wait list is slotted in. I suspect those cabins that open up are grabbed by someone who is checking availability multiple times a day. Keep checking...and be that person who happens to see that cabin... Horizon chaser 1957 Posted April 24, 2021 #5 Share Posted April 24, 2021 I’ve never wait listed for a cabin, but I’ve wait listed for limited and popular excursions. They call you when space opens up according to the order you joined the waitlist. The spots don’t even show up on the website as available unless there is no waitlist. Sometimes when someone cancels a reservation they post on the roll call saying their plans have changed. Just an idea.....

You must be in the the 35 day Hawaii Tahiti Cruise. You will definitely have to wait unti someone cancels their cruise which as everyone has mentioned won’t be until the last 3 months before the cruise. As to how soon, will depend on how soon you were wait listed. If you did soon after the last cabin was sold, you have a good chance of getting your veranda.
rkacruiser Posted April 24, 2021 #11 Share Posted April 24, 2021 Never was on a wait list. I had a guarantee once and received an upgrade by one category.

All the verandas are gone for his cruise. I believe due to pent-up demand. Also, HAL has eliminated 5 ships since July 2019. So not as many cruises to chose from.
