Wonderful news and I support the decision to vaccinate the crew.  I volunteer at a vac site and have seen availability increase and demand start to sag.  The Sam's Club near me had someone at the entrance informing shoppers that the vaccine was available immediately.  We have more than enough supply to support crew.

CARNIVAL SHIPS RETURN TO PORT OF GALVESTON

Carnival cruise ships return to Galveston for first time in 14 months

FYI: The tall ship masts seen in the @dan4182 picture above are the 1877 Elissa on the left side and the Nao Santa Maria in the right corner. The Elissa is a three-masted barque and is one of the oldest ships sailing today. Launched in 1877, she is now a museum ship at the Galveston Texas Seaport Museum. The Nao Santa Maria is a replica of the Spanish three-masted ship that was part of Christopher Columbus’ fleet in 1492. She was built in 2018 by the Nao Victoria Foundation, a Spanish nonprofit organization that recreates historic ships and sails them around the world to educate visitors about seafarer history. She has been docked for a week in Galveston.

Just curious as to why the ships will be leaving Galveston May 7?  Thanks for pics!  Have been following this and the other thread under CCL area.  Just so happy to see these ships!  Wish I was in Galveston to welcome them personally.  Watching the web cam!!  ♥️  We are both vaccinated and ready to sail!🛳️

The are here only to crew up, get vaccinations, have some work done on the ships and receive some provisions. This is so they will be ready when it's time to start cruising again.

Thank you!  So I guess they are getting the one dose shots?  Just curious.  Looks like the ships are lit up tonight, but I can't read the message on the side.  Maybe "We love Texas?"  Beautiful regardless of what it says!

You are most welcome! emo34.gif

All I know is the article in Seatrade Cruise News said the following: "During Tuesday's Galveston Wharves Board meeting, trustees were told some 350 crew from Carnival Breeze and Carnival Vista are expected to be vaccinated on Monday and Tuesday through arrangement with the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). They'll receive the two-dose Pfizer vaccine."

Even though they are docked now, I understood they will then come and go between being docked and at anchorage in the Bay. That is what the cruise ships that were still here did for awhile right after cruising shut down in March 2020. It is expensive for them to remain docked for a long period of time so they would come and go, back and forth, a few days at a time. That way, they will be back when it is time for the second injection.

When you look at a smaller version of the webcam, it appears to be what you said but with a 💗.
