stobe1 Posted May 22, 2021 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2021 (edited) With all the talk of Mardi Gras, I noticed people refer to Mardi Gras as MG. I was just curious what the 2 letter ship code would be for Mardi Gras so I looked it up on Carnival's website and I am suprised to see that it isn't MG. It is MD. Just passing along a little geeky info for those that like to nerd out on trivia like I do. Edited May 22, 2021 by stobe1

Voyage numbers are equally code-y - they involve the above-mentioned 2-letter ship codes and the embarkation date! Here are a few of mine: DE20070430004, VI20081102003, GL20111015007 VA20130619007, LI20150329003. DE = Destiny ... VI = Victory ... GL = Glory ... VA = Valor ... LI = Liberty The numerals signify embarkation dates, plus the number of nights-on-board! Now you know what ships -and dates- I've sailed on! tidecat Posted May 23, 2021 #12 Share Posted May 23, 2021 (edited) I would suppose the use of MD is to differentiate from the original Mardi Gras, which would be MG. Carnival Celebration is CB, and the original Celebration is CE: http://web.archive.org/web/20030416194831/http://www.carnival.com/Ships/ships.asp?select=CE Edited May 23, 2021 by tidecat inserted archive link
