WOW have the prices increased!!

Cruised on the Epic years ago on a transatlantic and thought that the ship, while large, it was not full but the layout was just weird. Especially the placement of the casino. This trip was certainly our best value (we cruised in a balcony) for >15 days and less than $900 for self and DH.  While we still cruise with NCL, we prefer the jewel class ships and after cruising with NCL’s Oceania ships, have found a better match. Small is good. 😊

I don't fault NCL for raising prices (new customers are arriving at their website daily), but there's something "dubious" about holding folks money for 6, 12, 18 months and not delivering at least a similar product to what was the "spirit" of the FCC bargain.

 

I think there could be more to this fleecing going forward.

I can only imagine HOW MUCH HIGHER they will go.

 

After all, the US market has been reduced by half as only vaccinated are allowed to travel with them, and inflation is on steroids.

 

Unfortunately, their costs will continue to grow. 

 

I'd say book now for next year. Prices will likely double by then. Or at least hold anything you may be remotely interested in. That is what we are doing.

one thing i cannot figure out is why the BA first 4 cruises in haven are starting at 2900 but after that they are all over 5K. what a discount..or..what a rip off. depending how you see it

Seems like a discount to me; I don't see Haven for those prices very often.  As to why, people are probably skittish about early cruises, especially to Bermuda which still has a lot of requirements in place.  Also, if those are the first cruises for the ship you'd expect some things to go less smoothly and that might deter some people from booking.  I'm not sure why the sudden big jump, but that's probably just how the supply and demand is working out.

Exactly!!!! NCL knows they have us between a rock and a hard place. With FCC do to expire you have no choice.

I hope prices continue to go up as it will be good for FDR and the stock price! All that extra EPS will please the shareholders. 

However.... it was bad karma when he said "Once our customers are on board they spend money like there is no tomorrow".

 

well.... one day there was no tomorrow nor customers. So in hindsight, don't count your chickens before they hatch and appreciate your customers- it costs a lot to obtain new ones.

 

I might pay the $125 deposit for Alaska- however some of the promos arent meaningful anyway.

What good is the UBP if you aren't on the ship much and are getting up early to  enjoy things.

Same with internet. The $50 per port could be helpful though.

Even with a port intensive itinerary, there's always room for breakfast mimosa, lunchtime beers, pre-dinner cocktails, wine & dinner pairing, and a post dinner liqueur. But that's just how we roll...

I just checked the price on my Nov cruise and the same cabin is now double. Im glad I booked when I did but I hope prices come back down at some point so I can book my 2022 vacation.

Just looked, again, at the BA sailing for mid October, 7 nights RT out of NYC - with the Latitude Insider's promo back again (3x points total per night for a balcony).  #Cough #Cough - woohoo, OMG ... a price drop of $30 for 2 ($15 per person) vs. when I last checked a month ago.

 

Now, that's a possibility but given the inflated base price late in the hurricane season (we've gotten quite a few close calls on fast moving Nor-Easters in recent years ... and, there's basically no alternate ports to navigate to shelter) - not exactly a bargain nor deal-maker.  But, I think DW is a bit more open to consider, seriously, a last minute booking if the "price is right" if I can work up the numbers to her likings, with shareholder's OBC and using 2 CN certificates - as it get closer to/past the final payment & penality deadline next month (mid August) while eyeballing the evolving "delta" trends around the globe.  

 

Otherwise, going to stick to our quick & mini regional getaway where we can get a 500 to 600 sf studio suite and/or a full size 1 bedroom suite for little to no efforts ... but, prices are rising there too.  Got my "insurance bet" booking a nice resort for Fall foliage getaway, just pack, load the luggage & extras and drive - despite higher gasoline prices, but.

I expected price increases.  But I wasn't prepared for the sticker shock when I logged on today!  

 

We booked our Encore cruise last September.  Now the same H5 cabin is almost $10,000 more.  For a 7 night Caribbean cruise?  I know it's the Haven, but I paid just under $6,000.  Now that same cabin is almost $16,000!   

 

That's insanity!

So why didn't you folks just book out for the next several years back when prices hadn't "wow' increased?  Did you just not have the $125 to pay the refundable deposits?

Just checked the cost of a basic balcony Haven room on the Prima for a 9-day Caribbean cruise for New Years 2022.

 

I understand prices are higher for holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, etc.), but I certainly wasn't expecting $27,500.00. LOL

I usually try to book suites (Haven or non-Haven) on NCL.  The prices increased so much that I have been booking cruises on Princess.  Princess suites have also increased, but only moderately.  NCL suite prices are now comparable to luxury line prices.

 

I prefer NCL.  They have a causal atmosphere and do suites better than the other comparable cruise lines.  I will come back to NCL if their suite prices become competitive with other similar class cruise lines.

Wow...thats crazy.  I am booked on the Prima, Feb 2023, in the Haven.  Your price is more than I paid for the H2 for 5 people for 7 days.  So glad I did it on the day bookings opened up.  The cabin class is sold out, so have no idea how much it would be now, but substantially more I would guess.

Yes...I was looking at the BA to Bermuda prices and for about 5 minutes I considered canceling "Nov/Gem to the Bahamas" and doing Bermuda.  I added up all the negatives (and there are lots of them) and just couldn't do it "for a cheap cruise".

 

Negative: hurricane season, crossing to Bermuda could be rough, would anything actually be open in Bermuda (tourist things), prices on the island are steep, possibillity of covid test, possibility of not being allowed in....and always, possibility of cruise being canceled

 

Positive: price   Just not worth it at any price, even for free.

You cant book years ahead. Maybe 18  months but during covid not even that .

Yep. My room went for 5 grand in the haven to 11 grand for the same room on the same sailing. Im happy I booked it when I did ,but that increase is crazy. If prices stay at that level it will be my last cruise.
