jgd3rdbcfd Posted May 29, 2021 #1 Share Posted May 29, 2021 Scheduled to sail on QM2 for Christmas/New Years. Does Cunard have transfers from mid-town Manhattan? Trying not to call them this early but planning trip.

Trying not to call them this early but planning trip. The easiest way might be the water taxi straight across to the cruise terminal? Or a subway into Brooklyn and flag a green cab down on the street to go the terminal. They might be the cheapest options.
sfred Posted May 29, 2021 #3 Share Posted May 29, 2021 YMMV, but in my experience the Cunard transfers are often rather expensive, particularly for two or more people. From Manhattan, there are several options for black car services, Uber, or yellow taxi either all the way to Brooklyn, or to the Wall Street wharf where you can get the ferry to Red Hook, adjacent to the cruise terminal. If you are NYC transit comfortable and traveling very light, the cheapest way is 2/3/4/5 subway to Brooklyn Borough Hall, or N/R/W to Court Street, and then a free metrocard transfer to the B61 bus which has stops along Van Brunt Street nearby to the cruise terminal. I've done this several times when I used Cunard luggage service to get our heavy bag to QM2 from Australia, and just had light carryons.
orchestrapal Posted May 30, 2021 #4 Share Posted May 30, 2021 Use UBER cheaper door to door and much more comfortable than a bus.
frankp01 Posted May 30, 2021 #5 Share Posted May 30, 2021 For our last 4 trips we've used the water taxi. If you're not starting in lower Manhattan you can start with any of the water taxi routes, since transfers are free. Approaching the ship by water is so much more exciting than when we've arrived by car.
navybankerteacher Posted May 30, 2021 #6 Share Posted May 30, 2021 The water taxi is a great way to approach the Brooklyn cruise terminal, but in late December the weather might make the experience less than ideal. Also, as a practical matter: OP was talking about a transfer from Manhattan to board the Christmas/New Years cruise on QM 2. That is not an itinerary which lends itself to traveling with just a back pack and a carry on —- AFTER a stay in Manhattan. The subway in Manhattan, and especially the absurdly unnecessary Van Brunt Street bus are non-starters. Even getting on/off the water taxi and then to the ship is iffy if you are carrying any serious luggage. Spring for an Uber of taxi from your hotel - you are paying for the cruise for an enjoyable time—- not to prove that you can play pack mule. frankp01 Posted May 30, 2021 #7 Share Posted May 30, 2021 I guess everyone's idea of what they are comfortable with varies. 3 of the times we used the ferry were either early or late December.
