KAKcruiser Posted May 30, 2021 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2021 Our family will be in two adjoining cabins with connecting doors which we would like to leave open. Does anyone know if the doors will just stay open or do they slam shut in rough weather? Should I bring door stops?
RuthC Posted May 30, 2021 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2021 If the seas make the ship rock, the doors could shut on their own, especially if the ship is pitching and dipping. The cabin stewards have rubber door stops they use to prop the cabin doors open when they clean. They may have an extra or two they can lend you. Bringing your own is certainly an option.
CruisinNana Posted May 30, 2021 #3 Share Posted May 30, 2021 I brought my own door stops, but I had to use two stacked on top of one another because the gap under the door was higher than one doorstop.
CruiserBruce Posted May 30, 2021 #4 Share Posted May 30, 2021 Just use a shoe you aren't wearing.
KAKcruiser Posted May 30, 2021 Author #5 Share Posted May 30, 2021 Thanks for the info. CruisinNana, do you remember how high the gap was? I could get a higher door stop.
RuthC Posted May 30, 2021 #6 Share Posted May 30, 2021 Just set the doorstop on its side, between the side of the door and the door jam, to keep the doors propped open. Remember, each cabin will have a door. You might also just consider bringing a couple of strips of a heavy tape to tape the locks open. Be sure to remove before you disembark, though. Rare Mary229 Posted May 30, 2021 #7 Share Posted May 30, 2021 (edited) Bring a rubber door stop. That is what they use when cleaning rooms. They wedge it at the top of the door frame Edited May 30, 2021 by Mary229

I borrowed one for a cabin crawl Edited May 31, 2021 by Mary229
