My mini-review: Fun, fun, fun...Carnival is back! Our state room steward was so sweet and service was really good. We were on deck 10 Lido. I was hesitant with booking this cabin because of the noise from the pool but we didn't hear a thing. It was a very convenient location. The Premium wi-fi service worked well throughout the cruise. I had to do a few work things (ugh!) and was able to have my videoconferences with no problems. I already mentioned it in another post but E-muster was very convenient. JiJi Asian and Cucina were great in both food and service. The Steakhouse however needs some work with the entire experience. The wait time was very slow and the steaks were not that good. They had our appetizers mixed up with another table and I never received my glass of wine I had ordered. So hopefully they'll get it together as time goes on. Several people I spoke with in the casino had noted similar experiences. The dining room was ok--nothing great but nothing terrible. The Marketplace buffet was fine except it seemed like they played the same 3 songs on a loop. Change it up guys! After initial confusion, the menus on the phone became second nature to us and I actually prefer it now. We're pretty much always in the casino so we didn't go to any trivia things so I can't speak to those events. But I did see them advertised! They had a Game of Thrones trivia contest which seemed new to me or maybe I just haven't paid attention. I had so much fun in the casino!! The bar service staff was excellent and the dealers did a good job of interacting with the passengers. Plus I won quite a bit of money so that makes it sweet. Debarkation wasn't as bad as I thought it might be--we didn't have to show our passports to Customs--they just used the facial recognition camera thing and we were out of there. Infamous scooter mishap update: The only bad thing which wasn't Carnival's fault had to do with me getting my foot run over by a scooter at the Omelette station. Well, it was bruising up even more so I ran/hobbled to the urgent care today and found out I have a broken foot! So I'm in a walking boot. I was gonna ask if I could rent a scooter! 😉 All in all, can't wait to go on my next cruise. So Sorry about your broken foot! Did you ever report it on the ship? I have a question on Cucina, I don't see it on my app or my carnival on my laptop to book only the Asian and Steak. Does that mean it's not available my entire week or can we book when we board. Also, was there a close parking garage that you can actually just walk across the street to the ship? I remember that from years past, but don't remember the name. lovetotraveltx Posted July 12, 2021 #227 Share Posted July 12, 2021 Just a few questions after reading through the above and hearing some other reviews personally from friends. We haven't sailed Carnival much and our last cruise with them was in I think 2006! Besides paid dining, what other options are there for Dinners? At lunch, are any mdr's ever open? If you were vaccinated and booked an excursion, did you book with carnival before you sailed or on board? Did anyone book a private excursion not through the ship? In Roatan can you get to the sky ride to the beach on your own and can you snorkel on the beach? Anything else you think I should know about sailing on the Vista, July 31? Thank you! figmentdj Posted July 12, 2021 #228 Share Posted July 12, 2021 I heard/read that cabin service is only available once a day (for safety reasons). Although Carnival has been trying to get folks to choose once a day for some time. What was your experience? Any chance we can get service twice a day, like before, if we requested. No. The protocols only allow them to do once a day. Our steward stopped by on the first day and went over that with us.

Would be cool if we could link it to our Carnival Hub so we don't have to worry about loosing the flimsy card They want the a the actual card but they did say you can use a digital code. The procedure might need different so best to give Carnival a call.

I read someone said she forgot hers and she and her entire party werent allowed to board. Not taking a chance, though sounds like she was trying to pull a fast one. I'm going to worry a bit until I go thru a boarding myself without a hitch. I ordered a combination passport/vaccine card holder.

The key word above is "and" -- You would just need to make sure you have both items (if you don't bring your original card.)

Someone on my roll call was on this sailing and reported they werent given a choice of fcc and bye bye. Also someone was heard to say told ya you needed to get the shot. She tried to lie and say she was vaccinated. 2 cabins I think he said. They arent going to fool around with liars.

I can understand not letting the unvaccinated person board, but can't understand turning away vaccinated people. Everyone in that party should have been able to tell the unvaccinated person bye-bye and then board the cruise. I didn't report it on the ship because I thought it was just bruised and would get better in a day or two. I guess I didn't notice how swollen it had gotten till I tried to put tennis shoes on the morning we left. I booked Cucina and Steakhouse in advance on the carnival website. I'm not sure why it's not showing up but I'm sure you can book when you board on the App. The casino booked JiJis for us. They offered us the Steakhouse again but we politely declined. I can picture a nearby parking garage in my mind but I don't know the name of it. Sorry! We parked in Lot B for this cruise and took a shuttle bus over.
lovetotraveltx Posted July 16, 2021 #239 Share Posted July 16, 2021 For those of you that did a Carnival Excursion in Roatan, did you have to wear masks and keep them on the whole time? If so, which excursions? Thank you
