good crab restaurants in ketchican

My excursion in Ketchican is to eat some great crab and sip some good, cold beer. Anyone have recommendations? Needs to be close to the pier also.

The Alaska Fish House (right next to the Lumber jack show)...there is also another restaurant just across from it can't remember the name but easy to find...both great food !!!

Your reference is to an official government site so it is obviously correct.  I couldn't find a date on my post but it was not an official government site.   It is true that you can't catch the big ones such as kings and opilio in the summer although Dungeness crabs are certainly very tasty.  You can't go wrong eating any type of crab and slightly misquoting what Ashland said - its not what you eat but where you eat it.  

 

BTW - this is the current menu price for King crab at Tracy - King Crab - 1LB $48.00 - subject to market changes.

Thank you everyone...you have given me "food for thought". Luckily the cold beer is year round. Maybe I will try the fish. Just glad we are cruising again and in such a beautiful place.

When I think of the words "Ketchikan" and "seafood" I immediately think of Annabelles Keg and Chowder House.  They are located in downtown Ketchikan, and even feature three different types of seafood chowder.   Several years ago we were in Ketchikan during the open dungeness crab season and enjoyed an incredible bucket of fresh dunegeness.  Google is your friend.  Take a look at the menu.  Located downtown.

There is an all you can eat Dungeness crab fiest offered as an excursion in Ketchikan.  It is pricey but well worth it in my opinion.  We were there last year while in Alaska for a fishing trip.  Since there were no cruise ships it was mostly all locals.  The crab was great and they just kept bringing it.

HAL has a bus or fly-in excursion to George Inlet in Ketchikan.  Skip breakfast and don't fall for the the appetizers that ma reduce your capacity.

We did this in 2019 and it was great. They picked us up at the statute near the visitors center on the dock. It's a beautiful 20 min drive to the lodge. The days and time available are limited. Best Dungeness crab I ever tasted.
