Rare twangster Posted August 12, 2021 #2 Share Posted August 12, 2021 Just off Meraviglia Aug. 6 sailing as a passenger who is vaccinated. There are signs at certain venues that indicate fully vaccinated. The pub is a vaccinated venue but I did see children to young to be vaccinated with parents. No one made a fuss, they weren't told to leave by crew. The casino is vaccinated and I did see one guest having a discussion with a crew member that may have been related to this but I didn't stop to listen in. I moved on to what I was doing. It's hard not to notice the large white vaccinated bands on other passengers but for me I didn't dwell on it or become fixated looking for wrist bands everywhere I went. MSC tested everyone at the terminal on my sailing, vax or unvax. Unvaccinated were required to be tested before arriving at the terminal to check in. The combination of the two make MSC one of the safest at sea right now (from Florida). That also puts any vaccinated minds at ease when they see someone without a wristband. They were tested twice so... MSC chose the harder path of performing a CDC simulation cruise. They did that so that unvaccinated could sail. Their ship, their rules. As a vaccinated guest if I don't like their policies I shouldn't board. I don't see it being my place to cast shade on anyone else on board for any reason. On my cruise the shows had times for everyone and times for vaccinated only. The "everyone" shows were earlier in the evening and prime time. I think if people look hard enough they can find something they won't like about protocols regardless if vaccinated or unvaccinated. From what I observed MSC did a good job trying to find a balance between the two groups. YMMV. 11

I'm vaccinated and going on a cruise in the Baltic Sea in 5 weeks. Does the above mean that you as a passenger can see who is vaccinated/immune and who is not when on board? On one hand it is personal information, on the other hand I would feel safer if I could try to steer clear of the un-vaccinated when on board.

For Florida based cruises guests who are vaccinated get a white wristband to denote being vaccinated. I'm not sure what MSC will do in other regions.

NO, you will not be able to see who is vaccinated and unvaccinated on the U.S. sailings you will only be able to see who has chosen to disclose the personal information and prove they were vaccinated. If someone does not choose to show they are vaccinated, they can still go on the ship etc and will have to follow the unvaccinated protocols. It will depend on if they choose to disclose the personal information. They do not force anyone to disclose anything they do not wish to.

The poster said they wanted to steer clear of unvaxxed...they can't *certainly* do that in the US by looking at the wristbands. They might *also* stay clear of a few vaxed who for some unknown reason chose to purchase insurance they don't need and get a covid test they also don't need, but honestly, you'll prob want to stay clear of them too 🙂 Regardless, they can avoid unvaccinated pax. deliver42 Posted August 13, 2021 #15 Share Posted August 13, 2021 NCL has the green light to ask for the vaccination proof. If you're not vaccinated, choose another line, or wait for an Oct 31st update.

Are there actually vaccinated people out there who would choose to cruise without showing proof, lumping them in with the unvaxxed, because "my vaxx status is nobody's business but my own?"

I would think that makes for a fairly crummy cruise. It is my understanding that if you do not declare you are vaccinated you incur other expenses...like testing and the covid insurance AND you are not allowed in some areas like the casino or pub.... who cares if they know I am vaccinated ? especially on a cruise where it is likely I will never see any of these people again !
