As long as you are not flying to Vancouver. In which case, a passport will be required.

So I could use my regular passport to fly into Vancouver, but use the passport ID for excursions and leave the other in my safe?

1025cruise is correct that you (always) need your passport (book) when flying internationally.  If you were doing the closed loop cruise from Seattle then your passport card would be sufficient.  Thanks to 1025cruise for clarifying.
