nlstigger Posted August 26, 2021 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2021 Captain just informed us that they will be arriving late in Long Beach. He said expected arrival time is 10:30am. There is some type of issue that doesn’t allow them to to reach max speed. Cabo port time was also cut. We will be leaving at 2pm - last water shuttle at 1pm. Rare mexicobob Posted August 26, 2021 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2021 Does not sound like a good thing. Would have thought the ship would had been in good shape. Guess everything breaks at some point.
Rare Saint Greg Posted August 26, 2021 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2021 This is a good thread for all of the people who ask "Can I make a 10am flight?" 14

nlstigger Posted August 26, 2021 Author #5 Share Posted August 26, 2021 (edited) Here’s the official notice. I am actually surprised they will pay for the airline change fees. I drove to the port, so it doesn’t affect me. Edited August 26, 2021 by nlstigger
tm_aw_love Posted August 26, 2021 #6 Share Posted August 26, 2021 Hopefully this isn't the same azipod issue that the vista had.
ScottsSweetie Posted August 26, 2021 #7 Share Posted August 26, 2021 According to my 9/4 group on another page, cruisers on the 28th have been asked to adjust their arrival time by 3 hours; port times are all being changed and arrival for them back into Long Beach on 9/4 will be 10:00am. Looks like this is going to be a problem for a while. Nothing on my planner has changed yet.
reggierail Posted August 26, 2021 #8 Share Posted August 26, 2021 This really really sucks!! After waiting years and numerous cancellations and rebookings we are having less than perfect albeit delayed cruises! 🤬😡
tallnthensome Posted August 26, 2021 #9 Share Posted August 26, 2021 Im on the 28th sailing come Saturday. Adapt and overcome. I’m guessing they are on four of the five engines now. Just a guess …. Nice for a new ship …. Pffff.
Moviela Posted August 26, 2021 #10 Share Posted August 26, 2021 It's not a new ship. It has been 2 years since she went into the water. Problems occur affecting propulsion even on newer ships. There may be nothing wrong with the engines, or the Azipods, it is at the most basic level an electric boat and the electrical system is large and complex. I would expect failure there first, and plans for repairs are already made. Sit back and relax, all will be fine.

I agree with the conclusion of your post (stuff breaks, deal with it), but it's overstated to say she hasn't been in the water for two years. These ships were never turned off. They sailed all over the place for the past year and a half. Panorama is likely experiencing the same her sister ships, Vista and Horizon, have experienced in the past. All 3 have had "max speed" malfunctions. I was on one of the cruises out of New York that had it. Port times change, but at least it's still sailing! They'll get it fixed in a week or so. They were stating that the ship is not new. Then stating that it has been 2 years since she went into the water, as in she was launched 2 years ago, not that she was out of the water for 2 years.
