Moving a cruise

Hi,

 

Recently booked a cruise for next July whilst on Sky Princess a week ago.  The Future cruise person said we could change that cruise if we wanted to within 60 days without penalties.
 

Called up today to try and move the cruise and Princess are claiming this is not possible and saying there is a £150 admin charge.  This is not what future cruise said, but there is nothing in writing.  Anyone got  any knowledge or experience with changing a cruise booked onboard.

I ALWAYS get statements like that in writing from Princess, if they won't give it to me I don't bite on what they are offering.   Just a warning, it has been my experience with Princess that there are times when they won't even accept the written statement - SO BEWARE.

Per many threads on the Princess forum and personal experience; make a few calls to Princess because the "story" depends on which person you get in Customer Service.

Usually buy FCD on board, then book chosen cruise with local travel agent as it’s easier to deal with them.

 

Admin charge to make changes in UK was £100, pre Covid, so has obviously increased recently.

 

Agree calling Customer Services again as another agent may deal with the change differently. Maybe ask to speak with supervisor if you don’t get anywhere.

Sorry.    Change of subject. As you have up to date info on Sky--could you tell me if they have an adequate Ice Cream area with toppings/cookies etc on the buffet?

Thanks. When we were on the Island Princess back in 2010 the ice cream bar was very poor so was hoping it had improved.

Do you guys have different rules in the UK?  (I may have read this once before??).

 

Did the person mean 60 days BEFORE departure date - i.e. typical Final Payment Date?  You can cancel without penalty before FP Date - which means you get the deposit back.  You are free to book another voyage.  Do you not have the free cancelation up to FP Date?  Whether they move you or you cancel and re-book, the end result is the same. 

 

Of course, if your rules are different, looks like a change fee may be in your future.

Yes we have very different rules in UK.

 

Deposits are non refundable,

Re faring only allowed once..at an admin fee.

Changes of cabin/ cruise…. at admin fee

 

One of my pet peeves that T&Cs are not standard.

 

Slightly different rules in these Covid times and depend on who cancels and when.
