OBC--Casino cash out

You can cash it out.  You just have to play with it some first and there may be a fee.

If you use it on slot machines, you can only cash out what you win.

If you use it at table games there's a 3% service fee to buy chips with your sail n sign card.  IDK if they monitor/expect you to place a certain amount of bets.  Most likely you're not supposed to exchange chips and then cash out immediately without playing at all.  I played small amounts on outside bets at roulette, was able to play for quite awhile, and turned a small profit.

I expect all types of OBC are about the same in this regard.  "Fun play" or whatever casino-specific credit is called can likely only be used in the casino and no where else on the ship.

I know that just recently you are not able to cash out your obc, that you received for cancellation of a cruise and rebooking, but is there any kind of obc that you can still do that with?

Stock obc?
25 milestone obc?

thank you

You can load any type of OBC into a slot, spin it once or so, "cash out" to your S&S.  This will transfer all slot credit into your player's bank, just like using cash.  Then you take your card to the cage and cash out.  What people are trying to do is go directly to the casino cage and asking for the OBC to given given to them in cash because they think that is what casino players mean by "cashing out" in the casino.

I was on the Horizon, and a lady who had tons of obc, tried to do what you explained on here she played a few rounds on the slot machine and cashed out to her SS card, and only the money she won went there none of  her obc,  asked the casino cashier they said they are not allowing that right now for the specific obc you got from a cancelled cruise ($500, $600), she did say only certain obc's were allowed to cash out,  I just don't remember which ones.

The casino cage doesn't care or know if what is in your player's bank came from cash in, charged to your S&S or won. They don't care.  They just cash it out.  When you ask those types of questions to crew who don't use OBC, you will get stock answers.  However, she would have needed to upload all her OBC to the machine.  If the OBC amount is too much, you have to do it a couple of times, upload, pay and cash out.   I think player banks max at $1500 and then if you try to add any more to your player bank, it triggers a handpay,

I can tell you the $25 fun play the casino gives to Platinum and Diamonds is separated out from YOUR bank. On the display screen, It shows how much you have in fun play and your money. It takes the fun play money first.  Didn’t have any OBC this last trip so can’t speak for that.  This was in August on Magic.

Fun Play is always separate and can not be cashed out (unless they give it to you in cash). The winnings from FunPlay can always be cased out.

Right what I am saying is that is what happened on the Horizon for the obc, because of covid cancellations, that was the only one she could not cash out

As platinum how do you get your $25 fun play? Is it automatic?

I think you have to book through the casino because they are not having casino tornements. Instead they are giving $25 pp if you booked with a casino rating.  Maybe also Platinum...we are Platinum but our $25 is coming from the casino priced we booked with.

The $25 has nothing to do with booking through the casino or on a casino offer. It is/was a temporary substitute for the buy-one-get-one free tournament entry benefit for Platinum and Diamond members:

https://www.carnival.com/vifp

We are currently unable to host casino tournaments on board and guests will be given US $25 in Casino FunPlay®.

The website currently says "for sailings through August 2021" so someone on a recent sailing will have to chime in on whether they are still offering the $25 if tournaments haven't restarted.

They don't give you FunPlay in cash.  That's the whole "play" part, so you have to play it and can't just get cash for it.

On the Miracle Aug 10, 2021  sailing I got both my Fun Play and my $25 Platinum play substitute for BOGO Slot entry in cash.

Do you remember whether the slots had the older S&S card readers with blue letters/numbers on the screen and physical push buttons, or the newer readers with LCD touch screens?

On Mardi Gras a few weeks ago, they were still offering the $25 credit.  I assumed it would be a credit on our account (like all other OBC) but it was not, we had to go to the casino and ask for it.

I don't for sure but kinda think it was the LED screen since I played newer machines

I had the same situation a few nights ago.  When the casino cashier started issuing the cash, I asked him if he was certain of that procedure (as he was extremely nice, and I didn't want an audit to get him in hot water) and he said he was doing what was instructed. I was truly stunned.

Elaine5715, thank you very much for these posts.  I found them very helpful and accurate.

We sailed on the Horizon in November and had to go to the Cashier's cage in the casino to have them load the $25 fun play on our S&S card. We had additional funds on our cards and the slots played out the $25 fun play money first.  We were told by the cashier that it could only be used in the casino for gambling and not used for any other purchases on the ship.

Fun Play isn't cash -- it has no true value, just think of it as free spins.

Anything in your players bank IS real cash, but you can't apply it wherever you want onboard. You have to physically get the cage to give you cash and then go to Guest Services to apply it to your bill (or pocket it).

Someone above mentioned handpay -- it's generally $1500, but I had a $600~win on the Magic and when I went to cash out, an attendant had to come over and treat it like a handpay. So just be aware that the machine and ship could change what the overall handpay cashout amount is (this was an older, true reel machine and not a digital display reel).
