Pt Canaveral Luggage Question

On a Thanksgiving cruise on Independence of Seas.  Our granddaughter will have to be tested on embarkation day in the terminal.  Looking for advice on luggage…should we take our luggage with us?  We’re trying to do carry on size with backpacks.  If one of our suitcases will not fit through the scanner, can one of us go outside to give to a porter after testing?  If not, we’re happy to roll around onboard until our room is ready.

Just want to make sure the luggage doesn’t go on a cruise without the humans.

Thanks, CJ

If your luggage isn't going to fit through the xray machine, they will turn you away at the door.  A standard carryon bag that fits in an airplane overhead will go through the scanner with no issues.  I have put a 30" suitcase through the scanner at Port Canaveral but we were there on a port stop.  I do not know if they would allow you to roll that size on at embarkation.

Port Canaveral, in my experience, is a "funny" place.  Some of the people who work there are lovely and accommodating.  Others..............not so much.

LOL  Do not get caught without a hand on the handrail on the escalator!

As others have said, you can take your luggage on board with you as long as you can haul it.

If you're truly concerned that your GD might test positive at the port, you can also get one of the cheap (non-monitored) at-home tests and do that before you leave for the port.  (It's the same type of test they'll do at the pier.)
