Second key to room

We're planning on taking a cruise with the inlaws and parents.  Has anyone every got a second key to your room.  We'd like to have a key to the parents room to assist them in the morning getting out of bed.  They will be in a handicap room and uses a wheelchair.

Yes, just go to guest services and they will get you sorted out.  It is very common.

A couple of years ago we had kids and grandkids along and they were booked one kid in each room and one parent in each room and one grand kid with us.  It was no problem getting a multiple keys to various rooms. So we could sort out sleeping arangements.

Note that the extra keys are just room key cards, they are not SeaPass cards (i.e., no charge privileges, etc.).

example attached. Name of the room guest is listed (redacted in photo), “extra key”, and nothing else.

On the newer ships which have RFID card stock, some reports suggested getting duplicates was a bit harder. Also, on the very newest ships (and Oasis) you can use the app on a mobile device to open the door - that method could be used in lieu of a second key.

We had no issues getting an extra card on Symphony in Feb 2020. We had two cabins and one adult in each so my husband's card didn't work in our cabin and I couldn't get into the kids so we got two extra keys. They were just plain cards without any names or anything.
