FlorenceItaly Posted February 19, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2006 Lisa - I was just coming to post the same thing. They must be waiting on some late passengers. Marie
sanibelsandals Posted February 19, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2006 Yep, it's still tied up in San Diego...guess we are all watching the same thing!
Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted February 19, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted February 19, 2006 Yes, she is still there :) Did we have any CC member cruising this week? Maybe it is a charter and they are leaving later. I do not recall Ziggy having a Bon Voyage for anyone on the Oosterdam this week. I heard last week had only a couple of CC members. FlorenceItaly Posted February 19, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2006 March 11th is a charter, but I don't know about this week. Good question. Marie
Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted February 19, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted February 19, 2006 I just check the Roll Call and there were 4 posts of 4 different CC members none that have ever posted over here that I am aware of. It did not look to be a charter or they did not mention it in their Roll Call.
Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted February 19, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted February 19, 2006 It actually surprises me she is always so timely if not even a few minutes early on her departures unless they have problems with luggage falling in the water like last Feb. 2005 or some one is ill. Hope nothing is seriously wrong.
FlorenceItaly Posted February 19, 2006 #8 Share Posted February 19, 2006 Yes, she is clearly still tied up. This is unusual for sure. Marie
Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted February 19, 2006 Author #9 Share Posted February 19, 2006 Well, two weeks ago right now we were already heading down to the Vista Dining Room for dinner:( Oh how I wish were were soing that tonight, although I need to drive home from work and Tom and our son Andy and I will go out to dinner just not sure where. My suggestions will be Olive Garden. The diet is going to start Monday. I have far more this week than I did on the Oosterdam (although drank less) and did not do all the extra walking back to our aft cabin.:D
FlorenceItaly Posted February 19, 2006 #10 Share Posted February 19, 2006 you will be on the Ryndam very soon :). 4 weeks from today I will be on the Oosterdam. I haven't even sailed her yet and she is already near and dear to my heart. I have so enjoyed seeing her come in Saturday mornings, and then leave again that evening. I know you can relate :). Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted February 19, 2006 Author #11 Share Posted February 19, 2006 Marie, Oh well, I thought I would watch her leave but I really want to leave work so I guess if she leaves soon I will have to catch her next week. See you later on line.:)
ore-ee-gun Posted February 19, 2006 #12 Share Posted February 19, 2006 When I checked right at 4:30, I couldn't see anyone standing on deck for the lifeboat drill, either.

Marie Marie, yes she is very near and dear to me. Not only have I cruised on her 3 times but the 3 times I went to San Diego last year when Tom was working down there I got to see her then and have dinner at Anthony's and watch Sail Away. Although with returning to the Ryndam and having also seen her several times besides sailing on her she is also one of my favorites but not as much as the Oosterdam. I did not think to check for life boat drill, hmmmmm...maybe she is a charter and leaving later tonight. Well gotta run, don't want to hang around here any longer than I have to. This one week back to work has felt like 1 month and we are having a huge sale next week and they expect to be extra busy and I will need to work a lot of hours. Atomica Posted February 19, 2006 #15 Share Posted February 19, 2006 Well, it's almost 6pm, and the Oosterdam is still in port. As someone who almost missed the ship two weeks ago due to the airline bungling my flight, I'm sure if there are passengers on the way, they'll be very greatful to see her still in port! It'll be interesting to see when she actually leaves... Lisa, hopefully before long you'll be back on the Oosterdam! She's my favorite ship as well - there's just something about it :)

sanibelsandals Posted February 19, 2006 #18 Share Posted February 19, 2006 I watched lifeboat drill. It was on time as usual. Nothing out of the ordinary this afternoon from what I could see. Just late departure...

FlorenceItaly Posted February 19, 2006 #20 Share Posted February 19, 2006 here I go again.... I am guessing you will not be flying in the day of next time, eh? I AM flying in the day of, but I am already saying, never again. Typically I do fly in the day before but I was just trying to cut some expenses. When we cruised on the Zuiderdam in December we flew in a day ahead of time, and it is a good thing we did as our luggage did not make it. It came in on a later flight around 5pm, and had it been the day of the cruise we would have had to cruise without our luggage! Or-ee-gun - How exciting that you sail in just two weeks :). That was unusually early for her. Doublecheck?
DAllenTCY Posted February 19, 2006 #22 Share Posted February 19, 2006 No charter today, just awaiting late arrivals from the midwest and east. The ship has plenty of leeway to still arrive ather first port two days from now, on time. This is a good time to recommend that when sailing from SD, why not arrive a day early and enjoy our great weather and not chance missing the ship. Fine hotels and motels can be found for as low as $40. We also have plenty of attractions from local casinos to great beaches. David
FlorenceItaly Posted February 19, 2006 #23 Share Posted February 19, 2006 Yes, she did arrive early. I typically get up to watch her come in on Saturday, and when I got online this morning she was already in port. Marie

I want to wish you a wonderful week onboard the Oosterdam. You are right, SD is a fabulous city and when I cruise out of there next time I will come in a day early at minimum. Frogs Posted February 19, 2006 #25 Share Posted February 19, 2006 Parts of the US got socked with a blizzard yesterday and last night. Things are still bad today with lots of flights cancelled and delayed. Even if they had flights scheduled yesterday they may not have gotten out until sometime today. Living in Ohio we deal with this a lot. That's a big concern I have for our cruise in December. We are leaving a day early but if the weather is bad we could get stuck . . . Not a good way to begin a vacation!
