The fact that kids can’t get vaccinated yet should 100% prohibit them from sailing on any sailing designated as vaccinated ONLY. Sorry parents.  Get a sitter, go somewhere else, or stay home.

on the other hand, YOU have a choice of several cruise lines which do not allow unvaxxed children at the moment.

We don't have that luxury. We cruise with the kiddo, or we don't cruise at all. And, it appears, that RCI gets it, hence, RCI sailings from FL aren't "vaccinated only." We can't go anywhere else - all other vacations are fully sold out and a lot more expensive, we would lose the $$ we paid to RCI a couple of years ago and lose the KSF promotion, and we have stayed at home for almost 2 years, only leaving the house for short walks in the park. We need a break. The kid needs a break. And this is the safest and most affordable break at the moment for us personally. So, sorry, not sorry, but we are planning on cruising.

I came home today from the the 20th sailing.  Chaos for families with kids and teens - EVERY kids club was shut from day 2 onwards - thats all the way from the youngest up to FUEL - so you had groups of teens sitting on the stairs trying to chat to friends/new friends?  all being broken up and told to disperse.

Rock climbing - on for the first afternoon, then not open again. Dodgems kept going - staff said that all remaining non-covid affected were in the seaplex to try and keep that going.

I did not see any meltdowns - but there were a lot of people quite unhappy at guest services when I was there to get the $$$ the casino had randomly charged me for back..........never even visted the casino!

Solo cruisers unhappy with kids in solarium but its was driving rain and wind - lots of parents unhappy because their kids were bored out of their brains.........

Oh and the RC decided to give away 1000 cabins to a local football team and their season ticket holders on the cheap so there were approx 2600 on the ship - mainly older people.  Cant imagine how this will go down with 1000 kids!!

They kept removing things from the app (ents) and on the final day,  cancelled captain corner in two70,  I cant imagine why...

I went as 2 adults,  our 18yr old and 15yr old son and we keep ourselves to ourselves so not hugely affected - some disappointment about the extra activities etc.

Staff look absolutely shattered - I had a good chat with a few, you can see the tiredness in them with being away from family.

I did the Magic earlier in the year and it was night and day,  I dont think RC are looking after these guys at all!

First time on RC - wont be rushing to return sadly.

Welcome to CC.

Thanks - I found the live trip reports really useful before sailing.

I'm not hugely disappointed myself but I can see how others (older, solo cruisers and parents with young kids) would be extremely unhappy about it.  The weather was bad as well - so it was just.........difficult for everyone, including RC.

Covid - great.

I’m sorry you’re feeling vacation deprived. My sailing lists itself as 100% vaccinated. That’s not true. You can go on a mixed vax cruise. I can’t go on a 100% vax cruise because: kids.
If two groups are standing side by side. Group A is 30 children in a “ kids club” where no one is vaccinated and the children are not attended by their parents.
Group B is 30 fully-vaccinated 25-year-olds sitting with social distancing in a ship bar. Both groups are someone on the ship’s children. Which group would you think is more likely to not wear their masks properly and would be more likely to not follow safety and hygiene protocols? Which group is being prohibited from cruising unvaccinated, A or B?

I see a lot of excuses but not a lot of common sense reasoning as to why kids should be permitted to gather unvaxed and unattended by parents or guardians in kids clubs. I would respectfully say don’t travel at all until your child is protected.

This sounds very

unlikely.

1000 cabins to a local football team? 🤣  how big is the team?  No one here has really been commenting on shattered staff missing their families?  I think this post smells like 🐠

if they are Americans - Group B will be LESS likely to wear their masks properly, nor will they adhere to any social distancing protocols. Plus, on US sailings indoor bar areas are for vaxxed people only and, thus, require no masks.

I’m not vacationing with my family under strict testing and mandatory vaccinations in your child's school.
we will agree to disagree.

Southern AMERICANS are quite a different breed than east Coast Northerners. New Yorkers have been dragged through it, we lost loved ones and we aren’t messing around.
Have a good time and be well.

and you are obviously not reading people's posts... My kid is in elementary school with 0% vaccination rate. The kids are 4-11 yo. Nor are they getting tested at all, unless the kid gets sick and his/her parents decide to test on their own. There is currently a mask mandate for schools in our district (not neighboring districts), but our superintendent has just announced that he will be cancelling the mask mandates because Covid rates are going down. Sigh...

Sorry to disappoint you but its actually true,  read more here on how RC has just entered into a sponsorship deal with Wolves FC.

Oh and unless you were on the ship like me for the last 5 days,  I dont think you know do you?

I believe there were Wolves supporters on our cruise 3 weeks ago too. As far as I saw they didn't cause any problems.

I’m saying we are cruising under strict testing and mandatory vaccination for ALL adults on my upcoming sailing. And I resent them allowing unvaxed kids to congregate in kids clubs unattended by parents. I’m not saying your schools are doing this. This is not personal.  If they’re going to go the mile with adults, don’t have children not following suit.  100% vaccinated means 100% vaccinated. For all.

Not disappointed, my apologies. But that seemed an odd Royal Caribbean bash as second post,  mentioning shattered crews with tiredness missing their families. Cruising really has just started back up after a year and a half and they’re not being forced to work on these ships. Most comments here are mentioning crew excited to be back working.

Well, on my recent cruise in Europe I did get the impression that crew was getting a bit stressed out. Mostly because they are not allowed off the ship for the most part, only on tours in one specific port (and I don't supposed everyone has that day off anyway). This may (probably is) be different in other parts of the world, but being stuck on the ship ALL the time does add additional stress.

On both my recent Anthem and Jewel cruises the crew were now allowed off in certain ports for a supervised supermarket visit only. They drew lots to see which crew members could go. My stewardess on Jewel said it was stressful with such little time looking for items with unrecognisable brand names ( and unrecognisable writing when in Greece)
