Hotels Fort Lauderdale - things to do

Does anyone have any suggestions for a nice hotel in fort lauderdale that you can walk to restaurants, shops, etc. I'd like close to port or airport if possible.  Thanks

Fun things to do? Or a hotel recommendation?

 

Fun things to do...water taxi, recommended here regularly. Could be 2-3 hours, or all day...its a hop on hop off setup. Great way to see some interesting parts of the area.

 

There are dozens and dozens of threads here on hotels. 17th St is very commonly recommended and close to the port. It has all sorts of hotels and restaurants around.

Hilton Marina on 17th Street.  It's right across from the Port and only a short distance from the airport.  Look for my review from this past March, it has photos.  The water taxi stops right at the hotel so that's a nice plus.  You can ride up the Intracoastal, or walk up 17th, to dinner.  We were going to try to fit in a tour on the Jungle Queen too.

I don't really need "fun things to do", just wanting a NICE hotel w/in walking distances to food places, coffee shops, etc.
