Since it was deemed close contact/exposure, they had to isolate in their cabin Friday until they were escorted off the ship on Saturday morning. Not a fun way to end a sailing. 😢 already working to plan my retirement travels! 😍 I will be on the Edge next May for a Rome/Greek isles cruise, then a few days exploring Rome before heading to Barcelona for 7 days on the Wonder of the Seas ❤️ look for a “LIVE”, “cross over” event 🤣 - from the Celebrity boards, back HOME 😉 Thanks Niks mom for taking time to do this review on the new ship. The shows sound wonderful. Congrats on your retirement. Mine was a year or so early than planned because of the pandemic, and then of course we couldn't do all the traveling we had planned to do It sounds like you have some great cruises coming up and look forward to reading about them

Frankly, if I was unable to be vaccinated because of an allergy, a cruise is probably the safest vacation! 😂 most vaccinated, and all tested prior to boarding. Probably safer than your grocery store. Indeed a whole lot safer than packed like sardines on a flight!! 😮 Though from one of your last posts...you can still get it at a Teppanyaki table? That could be anywhere then, not just a restaurant.... Elevators? Shows? Shuttles? Lined up at check in? I am just glad I have all three shots. Just to be sure, I pulled up the site for our 1/2/22 cruise on Harmony. Message pops up telling me to make sure we are within 30 days of our cruise. So you will need to check until after 12/9/21 for yours.

My retirement was also a little earlier than planned 🤗 but I’m enjoying this life already. My “bucket list” destinations will require lots of walking, so best that I get these in while my knees still work relatively well!

I know first hand - since despite having two shots I managed to get a breakthrough case, and the only place I had been was the grocery store.🤷♀️ my point about the teppanyaki venue is that it’s the only restaurant where there is no social distancing. The cruise ship requires isolation if you have close contact with another party for longer than 15 minutes who tests positive. this would not come into play in any other restaurant because of the spacing. Hence my suggestion to avoid this venue unless your traveling party or family can fill the entire table.

Hoping it was just a fluke. Im usually pretty happy in the MDR. In face, on our Symphony sailing, every meal was great. I made up for it by gorging myself for breakfast in the solarium bistro. Great spot for breakfast. A much more peaceful vibe than the windjammer Is the this breakfast included or extra charge?

I’ve always found them to be a little sketchy, and definitely vary from ship to ship, but they now resemble a yellow oatmeal. And the consistency is the same 🤢 they were the same yesterday in the Solarium. thus, my tip…..request made to order scrambled…..and they will look like real eggs Thanks for the tip

Confess to needing some liquid courage prior. 😎 I wish I would have booked a day and night trip, ——and it was raining, so photo quality is not great, but just WOW. Never occurred to me to do the NorthStar at night. Pictures were great

taylortime05 Posted December 9, 2021 #185 Share Posted December 9, 2021 (edited) Thank you for the wonderful review. We're 58 & 63. We've sailed on Oasis & Allure about 5 years ago with our adult kids and loved the ships. Since then we've been sailing on Celebrity. We've been on the Reflection, Eclipse, Equinox and Edge and I think Celebrity is our favorite cruise line. But we love the entertainment on the Oasis class ships. We have some Future Cruise Credit that we need to use on Royal. We're thinking about a Europe cruise summer 2022. The Odyssey is much lower price than the Wonder. We can get an Ocean Balcony for $2500 for 2 on the 8/14/2022 sailing. How would you compare the Symphony to the Odyssey (food, bars, shows, overall impressions)? Thanks Sue Edited December 9, 2021 by taylortime05

Thanks Sue @taylortime05 I am actually sailing on Wonder of the Seas in May 2022 in Europe--fingers crossed! Those sailings were originally on Allure and switched to Wonder--and with that came a big price hike on new bookings I suspect. In the entertainment category, Oasis class is superior to Quantam in my opinion from a variety perspective--but with a port intensive cruise like Europe, I'm personally not sure how much of evening shows I'd even be taking in....especially if there are early morning excursions. Odyssey certainly was on par with Symphony as far as bars, food--etc...and also had a classier feel.....if it was a Caribbean sailing, I'd probably lean towards Oasis class with more sea days-- even with the higher price, but considering it's Europe, and and at a lower price--I'd chose Odyssey.
