Thanks! This reminds me of a South American cruise: the Amsterdam was held up in three ports by subs which had dibs on departing first.  The third time we were held up the captain came on the PA system,  starting his explanation with, "you aren't going to believe this but....".  There was a great ambiance on this long cruise and the Captain certainly did his part :)

This brings back a special memory of our Hurtigruten Norwegian Coastal Cruise about 4 years ago.  (It was a very special cruise in so many ways, but that's a different topic. 🙂 )

 

In one of the tiny northern bays/villages where they make their daily calls (the Hurtigruten ships also provide local transportation and some freight), as we were sailing out, there was suddenly a dark "something" emerging a bit off to the side of the ship.  It turned out to be a small Norwegian sub.  Apparently they are constantly on the prowl along the coast, given the proximity to Russia...

That suddenly gave a different "feel" for things for a while.
