Rare sid_9169 Posted November 29, 2021 Author #777 Share Posted November 29, 2021 They've also got a mojito that is simply the greatest ever. It takes about ten minutes to grind all the ingredients by hand in a volcanic stone bowl...
Rare sid_9169 Posted November 29, 2021 Author #778 Share Posted November 29, 2021 Pretty soon, it was time to head further up the road to my other favorite place on Earth... Mezcalitos holds a special place in my heart, and unfortunately during the last hurricane they suffered some damage necessitating the replacement of the grass palapa roof. I had a couple of tshirts hanging there that didn't survive the renovation, and next time I'll have to make and bring a replacement. Their margarita holds a very high place on my list of all time favorites. I always get mine with the very best liquor they carry: Don Julio Reposado and Controy... Their small, but as strong as they come, yet perfectly balanced...
Rare sid_9169 Posted November 29, 2021 Author #779 Share Posted November 29, 2021 Next thing I knew, it was time to pay a visit to their five star bathroom facility...
Rare sid_9169 Posted November 29, 2021 Author #780 Share Posted November 29, 2021 I walked around and took a few more photos before ordering one more margarita... I don't know how long it'll be until I make it back here...
Rare sid_9169 Posted November 29, 2021 Author #781 Share Posted November 29, 2021 I paid up my tab, and next thing, we were heading across the transversal road...
Rare sid_9169 Posted November 29, 2021 Author #782 Share Posted November 29, 2021 I asked Crescencio where the best and freshest ceviche in Cozumel could be found. He knew just the place, and pretty soon we arrived. A little hole in the wall type place, which is where you find all of the greatest meals... This one had fish, shrimp, conch, and octopus... This fish is fresh off the boat every single day...
odie1024 Posted November 29, 2021 #783 Share Posted November 29, 2021 The ceviche looks amazing along with your drinks.
Rare sid_9169 Posted November 29, 2021 Author #784 Share Posted November 29, 2021 Next thing I wanted was some real, authentic Mexican tacos. The kind that the working class people eat, and cheap... Pretty soon, we came to a little shack way back in the neighborhood district... They specialize in cabeza, which means "head"... No, not that kind of head, actual meat from the head of the pig. Brain, cheek, tongue, ect... Unfortunately, they were sold out by the time we got there, so I had to settle for pastor, carnitas, and beef... Still great...

Rare sid_9169 Posted November 29, 2021 Author #787 Share Posted November 29, 2021 And, pretty soon, we made it all the way around the island to San Miguel, the capitol of Cozumel. I paid Crescencio, and told him I would hopefully see him again sooner than later. I set out on foot to another of my all time favorite margaritas: Dick's Dive... I ordered the very top shelf of what they had, which was Don Julio Reposado and Grand Marnier... This thing was huge like many of the clubs around Cozumel, but with better ingredients, and expertly mixed.

Rare sid_9169 Posted November 29, 2021 Author #789 Share Posted November 29, 2021 (edited) As if I needed anything else to eat or drink, I was craving a lobster and bacon sandwich at Le Chef. I headed up Melgar a few blocks, but they were closed today for renovations. I also wanted a margarita from Green House, but my mind was on lobster, so I headed back South several blocks to the Lobster Shack. Rare sid_9169 Posted November 29, 2021 Author #793 Share Posted November 29, 2021 That's the "double lobster" sandwich there above... Twenty bucks, but awesome. I really wanted the bacon lobster sandwich, but this would have to do... While I was inside, it started raining, so I didn't feel like walking several blocks back up to Green House. I decided to just jump in a cab and head back towards the ship. I had pretty much eaten and drank my fill, and had to walk down the LONG pier to the ship in the rain. By the time I made it back on board, I was soaked, so I took another shower... Which brings us to now... I'm sitting here trying to decide if I want to drink a couple more, though anything I have isn't going to compare to what I already had today. No, not even at the Alchemy Bar... I also probably don't need anything to eat, as you saw the pictures... What to do, what to do?...
