Question about trip to Blue Lagoon in Nassau

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I see that there are great prices now for the Black Friday sales on our upcoming cruise to Bahamas next year in September on Royals website.

We opted for the Blue Lagoon Stingray encounter, quite cheap, about $40 on sale.  If I would have booked it on Blue Lagoons own website it would have costed over $100 inc tax pp

But I now have some questions after having looked on youtube  for this beach experience.

*Will the beaches that are NOT vip beaches be crowded and bad? I can't find a map that shows what beaches are reserved for the vips and not.

*Is it possible to upgrade or buy entry to the VIP beaches on site and if so, how much will it cost?

*Could one buy other experiences or encounters onsite or are we stuck with what we have bought? My wife would like to do the Island Eco Nature walking tour something I and our kids don't wan't. But according to the cruiseplanner you have to choose one?

*If we changed our minds and reserved the VIP Blue Lagoon Island beach day then we can't pay to do the Stingray or dolphin encounter?

I get no real info on neither Royal Caribbeans site or Blue Lagoons website on this, does anyone here know?

Welcome to CC.

Don't get sucked in by RCI marketing speak.

Thanks 🙂

I am aware of RCI marketing and their laughable "XX % off"  but $40 is cheaper than $90 + tax, or am I missing something here? I watched the prices on their own website to compare.

However I know very well the details of add ons and nickel and diming with things that are not included, thats why I am asking here.

Does anyone have any exprerience with Blue Lagoon trips?

We have been to Blue Lagoon several times and always enjoy.     We have bought the same excursion in the past too!     It is a nice scenic ferry ride to the island and a beautiful island.

No need to purchase the nature walk, you can simply explore the island yourself it is small but has a lot to offer.

I always enjoy watching the dolphins, sea turtles, etc.

Every time we have been there we always say - why would anyone purchase the VIP excursion no need to do that.

There is plenty of beach and I have been there when there are a couple of ships docked in Nassau.

At the beach you can get free inner tubes to float around the lagoon, free beach lounge chairs and I thin beach umbrellas were included too (not sure I like to sunbathe).

You can go snorkeling on the other side of the lagoon.

They do offer a lunch buffet at an extra cost, but it wasn't all that good in my opinion - burgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers.     We ate there once and decided not to bother the next couple of times we went.

Also, their ferries come and go all day and they have a big sign on the dock that shows the last time to get on the ferry for your particular ship.

You and your children will really enjoy.

I also booked this because it is a big price drop. It is regularly $55 per person and over $70 on board. We did this before. The beach is nice

im NOT an expert but in my precious experience, everyone gets wrist bands for their excursion. Everyone rides the same ferry over. They the. Tell you where to link up and the time for your specific excursion. We didn’t see any options for upgrading in the island

we didn’t thu j the beach was too crowded. My youngest uses a wheelchair and they helped us get set up in some shade. We are planning on just hanging out at the beach on our upcoming Christmas cruise because we have so little time in Nassau and this was actually the cheapest way to get to a beach in a bubble tour excursion (although my youngest will be vaccinated by sail time I am planning for the worst).

we loved it back in 2019, at $50 pp.

The beaches were lovely.

Check out the other side of the lagoon as well - quite interesting.

Had the VIP experience in September.  Lots of covid rules - could not go to any other area of island without escort and masks.  They kept us separated on the ferry and had to sit in same seats coming and going.  Never did get to normal beach area.  They were announcing times for float toys and lunch area for various tour groups from different ships.  VIP had our own food area on the beach.

Would think that restrictions will be much less by next year but if they continue you might want to check a month or so before before your cruise.

wow, that was completely different from our pre-Covid experience.

That said, we sailed on Harmony during Thanksgiving 2021, and the "bubble" tours involved stuffing us like sardines on a closed bus in St Kitts and like sardines on an open air bus in St Thomas.
