I too like the East West blend.  I am almost certain when we last cruised 2 years ago it was priced at $17 a glass but we were not up charged.  Will no for sure when we cruise again next week.

Last we sailed in Jan 2020, this red blend was $17/glass, I ordered a glass with dinner at Ocean Blue one night and was charged the $2 for one glass, after that the refills were complimentary.  🙂

Our waitress was one of the best we have ever had, she was so much fun, I tipped her well.

I know covid has turned the world upside down, but how did North and South turn into East and West?  I really like the Sauv Blanc.  Is this new wine still made by the Mondale winery?

The East & West Sauvignon Blanc 2019 by NCL cellared & bottled by The Michael Mondavi Family, Napa, California showed up in Oregon Grocery Outlet stores a couple of times.   They also had the East & West Red Blend California 2017 with same description.   We like both wines and when we drink one we remember the many wonderful cruises we've taken with NCL.   Going to check our Grocery Outlet stores to see if by chance they've gotten another shipment since our stash is getting low.

We were on the Joy Dec 2019.  East West was already on the menus for $17 a  glass but we were able to drink the East West blend throughout without up charge.  Apparently those days are long gone.  When we board Breakaway next week I am going to ask what they have in a blended red wine without up charge.  If none available looks like I will be drinking a lot of Michelob Ultra.

Well, apparently they didn’t swap out all of the menus, because the first sailing in January still had some venues with the old ones, and the first two days we were able to get it without an up charge but only in the venues with the old menus, and the rest of the time there was an up charge.

For those who have tried this wine, is it worth $17 a glass?

No.  It’s an average but decent blend that should be included in the package but I assume was popular so NCL decided to price it high enough to create an up charge.  I won’t be ordering it for an up charge, as there are plenty of other drink options that are included.

Totally agree.

NCL did this same upcharge nonsense with Grey Goose vodka a couple of years ago. Majority of guests said BS on this, were not willing to pay extra above the unlimited beverage package fees and ordered Titos or Sky instead, me being one of them. Since then, NCL made the good choice to list Grey Goose back within the $15 bev package pricing. Perhaps they will make that good choice again with the NCL branded (house) wines.

For the past several cruises in NCL we have purchased a wine deal 6 or 12  bottles for one price and you get to pick out which bottles from a list.  Then you get a slip for each bottle of wine and present it to your waiter at dinner.  We are not big on mixed drinks, but do love our wine with dinner.  Wonder if they are still doing that.

Years ago, on NCL out of New Orleans we ordered a "house red". When my husband brought it to the table he turned the table so I could not see it.  Hmmm. Turns out it was Tisdale which we can buy at out local gas station for $5.  They were changing $23.  Tisdale is a friends favorite so for for his 60th birthday we got him a bottle of Tisdale, stuck an NCL label on it and a price tag of $23.  😁

  • 1 month later...

So i got the casino to stock a bottle of each so each glass is free to me because of my casino tier.

I like the Red but it's not worth $17!

i like the Gerald red better.

And the Berringer's Red from the free wine list for Platinum dinners is even better.

Not a fan of the white but i'm a Moscato drinker.
