I sail 12/31 and cancelled my booster for today because I booked J&J and decided against it yesterday.  I’ll try tomorrow to find Moderna.  I was so afraid they were going to hold me to 14 days even though I got my original J&J vaccine back in March.

Yeah, I took J&J back in April. Seemed like it was getting less mentions about side effects. Decided to go with Pfizer for the booster, seems to be the best from what I've seen.

It has been sip and cover in the casino.

The only changes I see are the "recommendations" on a mask type, no smoking anywhere in the casino, and to get a booster shot more than 7 days prior to embarkation.  That and enforcing rules already in place.  Not much different than from the land based casino we went to in Biloxi last summer ( yes they had "sip and cover" there, and it was no big deal IMHO)

Looks like my January cruise out of port canaveral changed to Miami. 🙄

Not sure about that.  They brought in Liberty early so they could take the place if Horizon which needed an emergency dry dock.  I think it's is Miami temporarily.

I just read this email having coffee. I am flying to Miami to board the Sunshine for the Dec 19 and 26 sailings. I am a smoker. I am considered an elite player by the casino ( I'm staying in suites and the casino paid for them as usual among other things). This is absurd.  I will be telling the hosts when I get there that I will not be spending my hard earned dollars there this trip and thanks for the rooms and comps.

As for the masks. I won't be wearing them. They are gonna have to put me in the cruise jail to stop me. I've had it. I'm taking a stand.

I'm surprised you're on a B2B on Sunshine. I thought 12/19 is from Port Everglades/FLL and 12/26 is a late departure from MIA.  Must just be listed that way because they have to use the same terminal for both ships. Guess Carnival could shuttle guests if they had to?

Take a break and take in a deck party or an outside movie.

The new advisory states that masks are requested to be worn outdoors in large gatherings where social distancing can't be maintained. A deck party will very likely meet this definition.

That's always been the language but doubt that would ever be enforced.

I am really shocked at the no smoking policy at the casino.  They did that in NJ when the pandemic first started and vaccine was not widely available but have since been lifted.  I will be on the Mardi Gras today so I will definitely check it out and report back the sentiment onboard.

Yes please report back. I'd really like to know if it's "mask up between bites and sips" in the lounges/bars.

Anyone know if it's possible to cancel a January cruise without penalty?

Heald mentioned in his video today that there would still be penalties for cancelling the cruise.  He didn't mention rescheduling to a later date which is what I am going to try as soon as I can get a hold of my PVP.  Even so a straight cancel of my January cruise only carries a $220 penalty since my cruise has been rescheduled so many times.

So if you purchased the insurance and choose to cancel or reschedule will there be a penalty?  Right now Carnival.com appears to be down to look at my booking, etc.

This isn't that much of a change unless you smoke. LOL- It's not any different than August. Thank god the casino bar will be reopened. I love that. Going on NYE and can't wait.

Sip and cover in all bars/lounges would be a big change...

I’m booked on a January cruise and have not received this.  It sounds like is was just sent out today.  Are there others who have not yet gotten the letter?

I cruise Dec 26th and did not get the email. But.. I had blocked Carnival emails for a while and I may not have changed my settings correctly.

Yes it would be BUT that's not the change. It's sip and cover AT THE CASINO BAR. The rest of the time if your vaccinated then your don't have to mask while eating and drinking. It's helps when people actually go to Carnival's site and read the policy. EDIT: The Casino has been an origin point for outbreaks before on ship. I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner.

What? I have to go to the company's website and actually read what the rules are? I have to actually read the contract I signed when I gave that company money for a service?

What is this insanity you speak of!!!!

(yes I'm being sarcastic, and a little cranky)

I am shocked at the number of people who don't read and stay up to date with things. Cruising isn't just about getting to the port and walking on the ship.....

It sounds like a lot of people are threatening to cancel. I’m now having fantasies about my cruise being only at 25% capacity and being upgraded to the presidential suite.

Be careful what you wish for, I greatly doubt your cruise would sail at 25% capacity, especially with the smokers booted out of the casino. It will be interesting to see how many cancellations the new policy triggers.

Plenty of lines have been sailing with barely any passengers.
I don’t see an apocalyptic stop to cruising unless they are forced to do so.
