dexddd Posted December 25, 2021 #51 Share Posted December 25, 2021 At OC when we were there in September with limited numbers, OH was pretty full. I could not figure what it would be like when full capacity. Glad they added some more seating.
Nunagoras Posted December 25, 2021 #52 Share Posted December 25, 2021 Wonderful review. Hope things improve ASAP on the covid front. As many have said: MSC's Ocean Cay is just on the way forward to become by far the best cruise industry's private island in the world!... Come the day they're able to just let all that wonderful vegetation to grow up and all those more or less little bugs ironed out!... Have a nice day and continue enjoying wonderful festivities and a happy new year!...

Have not sailed RC for 30 years so can't comment about that one.

It may take at least 10 years to do that and by then, they will wreck it. Fast forward 10 years.....they already have 3 ships in FL, how many then? What size will they be then? I also see them adding space to dock 2 ships. When most sailings occur on the weekends its hard to get ships there any other day out as its only 55 miles from Miami. You either go on the first full day or the last full day of the cruise.

Thank you for your interesting thoughts. You make some good points. If the cruise industry continues to thrive, as I believe it will once again, there has to be an adjustment as to when during the week ships sail/arrive from Florida ports. There has been congestion problems pre-Covid in Miami as well as Port Everglades. With more ships, larger ships, something must change as to schedules and itineraries. Port Canaveral has added additional berths and that will help, I think. Yet, it is not a solution to the "Friday-Saturday-Sunday" major sailing pattern that currently exists. (In my opinion, of course.) Ocean Cay, as the final port stop, is not desirable in my experience. Having to pack and prepare for disembarkation the next morning--early--detracts from the attractiveness of Ocean Cay. For me, it reduced the amount of time that I spent on the island. Docking two or more ships at Ocean Cay? How would that be possible? The channel and docking area currently barely accommodates one vessel. Where on the island could they create another dock? Tendering would be a possibility. Just as HAL does with Half Moon Cay. But, what is the depth of the water around Ocean Cay? Would anchoring be feasible? The ship could "stay on thrusters" during the port visit, but, that would use more fuel than anchoring. During my January, 2020 visit to Ocean Cay, the driver/guide of my golf cart from the Ocean House back to the pier gave us a tour of the island and indicated that MSC's plans were to develop it with family friendly type attractions. Like your concern about what will it be like in a decade, I hope that whatever is developed--if it is developed--will not detract from the ambiance that now exists. MSC is an interesting "cruise story" to follow!

SirWolf Posted December 30, 2021 #61 Share Posted December 30, 2021 .. back on land .. MSC Seashore arrived this morning in Miami. The first YC passengers disembarked at 7:10am, we had breakfast and were escorted by our butler at 7:45am. YC passengers got in front of the line at security checkpoint on ship. Immigration procedure was quick.. entry via face scanner/recognition. We collected our luggage, no customs checkpoint.. and walked across the street to parking garage G . 1
Raintree Posted January 1, 2022 #62 Share Posted January 1, 2022 We have sailed Seaside and loved it. Going back to MSC in February on Seashore in the Yacht Club. Does MSC Yacht Club still offer the Venchi red amaretto chocolates? Thank you.

On Seaview last month there were many Venchi treats available in the YC, including a small selection of chocolates at times and ice cream served daily at poolside between 13.30 and 14.00 in small tubs....outdoors in the Caribbean you need to consume it very quickly! 😉 Your Yacht Club status however does not entitle you to any products for free at the Venchi cafe/bar area. We're D+, but the number of points needed to advance to Pinnacle(480) made us decide to try something new. We put in for a status match in October, but haven't heard anything back. We're booked in a whirlpool suite with Aurea experience, so it should be fun. The easy drinks pkg came with our booking, but I think I'll upgrade to easy plus for a little better offering. Do you have to take ship excursions or can we go off the ship on our own? Thanks, Barb
