Yep. Some stainless steel refrigerators will work with magnets. I believe that most wont. The highlighted info in the quote above is correct. My wife wants a new refrigerator so I have warned her that, if she wants to stick a ton of stuff to it (like she has on the current refrigerator) she should take along a magnet when shopping for the new appliance. We currently have appointment cards, finger painting art, take out menus, a bottle opener, etc. stuck to the thing.

When we were shopping for a refrigerator, most of the sales people were prepared for that question.

If you put enough stuff on the refrigerator door, it is hard to see that it is stainless steel though.
