Hopefully we'll be on the Millennium on 8-5-22, flying in on 8-3-22, looking for recommendations.

Thanks

Pan Pacific is just above the cruise ship terminal.  It is basically an elevator ride down to check in. Fairmount Waterfront is across the street.

Looking for something a bit more mid-market.  Days Inn is 5 minute walk

Basically the cruise ship terminal is in downtown core.  Lots of hotels in the downtown core.

The Pan Pacifc hotel is very nice and extremely convenient (they take your luggage from your room and put it on the ship for you), but a bit pricey (sometimes you can find deals on their website).

Most hotels in the pier area are pricey, but again convenient.  The hotels near the airport are considerably less expensive.  If you can handle your luggage, a good option is to take the Skytrain right into downtown near the pier for less than $10 Canadian ( you can often take a hotel shuttle back to the airport and board Skytrain there easily).

We have done both approachs and would do either again, depending on what else we were planning on doing (not much in airport area to do).

I have stayed at the Pan Pacific several times as well as the Fairmont Waterfront and prefer the Pan Pacific because of its position as part of the Canada Place complex.  It's dining/lounge areas have a magnificent view of the harbor.  And, depending the location of your room, the views are excellent.

I would never consider staying at a hotel located near the airport.  Even if one's visit to Vancouver is relatively short, the downtown/Gas Light district is an easy walk from both of these hotels and would be interesting to most people even during a short visit.

While the Day's Inn is close and affordable.  It's on my avoid list if you are staying Friday and Saturday nights.  There's a bar next door and the thundering bass travels through the hotel until 3am.

I like the Blue Horizon as a value hotel on Robson and YWCA as a budget hotel choice when staying downtown.

We are staying at the Victorian Hotel for 2 days pre-cruise. Has good reviews, reasonable rates,  and is within walking distance of the port. (We will be sharing a bathroom, but this is OK with us)
